Fishin Report from Murrells Inlet and Tournaments Morning all,
Sorry its been about a month since I last posted, but I have had alot goin on in past month. Anyhoo the fishin has picked up, my bro is still here and leaves in a week and a half. He has spent EVERY day out in the ocean that permits a 21ft cc to. The flounder bite has picked up and is still getting better (flounder tournament this Sat MAY 28th). My bro has managed to catch everything that swims by trolling clark spoons, gold, silver and everything inbetween. From anywhere from the mouth of the inlet to about 17 miles out, he has brought to the boat, kings, spanish, redfish, blues, sharks, black bass, spot, you name it. We went out Sun, since the weekend is the only time I get to fish and started out west of the 3 mile reef and started trolling spoons and within 10 mins we got wammed on a gold spoon by a 25in spanish, we continued north for a while and then went East. We trolled out to Belkie Bear in nearly calm seas, and then the wind picked up and so did the King bite, all 8 of them to be exact. We were in about 40ft of water and where getting doubles, what a blast and the fish were in the 6-8 lb range (schooler kings) of course with no complaints from anyone. Seas got up to about 5 footers and made for a slow ride home. Anyway, there is a flounder tournament this weekend in the inlet, first prize is a Boat, motor and trailer, put on by Voyeger View Restaurant, you can get apps at Marine Service Center on Bypass 17 in Murrells Inlet. $35 gets you in the game and there is Capts meeting on Fri @ the restaurant in the inlet that is mandatory, with a fish fry to follow the tournanment with the flounder that are caught. Good luck to all!!!! |
