I was at Emerald Isle this weekend and rode to the point, that no longer exists. While there, I rode down the last street on the right (short cul-de-sac) and saw a beautiful 20' to 22' boat that appears to be a custom. It looked very similar to the boat on the lift next to the north end of the bridge as you leave the island. I think someone had a post describing that boat as a 26' to 28' Buddy Davis.
Just wondering if anyone has seen this boat or knows if Davis makes them this small. For a small boat, it had lots of the Carolina flair.
If any of you guys are in the area, ride by there and check it out. I would like to have had a closer look, but I didn't want to disturb the owner early on a Sunday morning.
They are building them in the large building that is across the street from Broad Creek marina in Wanchese. I saw several they had up there last summer. they are calling them B&D.

Since the boat was only in the 20' to 22' range, I would guess that it may have been a Shearline. Here's a pic of their 23':
I think they've made boats as small 18' (for $50k+ if I remember correctly ). Not sure that B & D builds boats smaller than 28' (although I think their 28' boat is really a 26' hull). Shearline is located in Morehead City, which is relatively close to Emerald Isle where you saw the boat. I think that there are also some custom builders in the Beaufort / Harker's Island area.
The gallery on Shearline's website has some interesting pics, such as these:
It is possibly a "Jarrett Bay"....with the distinct "flair"...they have made
a few CC type boats.......just a guess...but I have seen a couple like
you have mentioned and they are certainly "eye catching".....
Hey nccoaster, it could have been a Shearline as others mentioned. BTW, there is no point, yet. I think they are gonna try to create one. I remember when it seemed like a half mile from the pavement to the water.
BILLY DUPREE (OUTERBANKS BOAT WORKS ) HARKERS ISLAND BUILDS A NICE 22 WITH MORE FREEBOARD THAN THE SHEARLINE HAVE SOME PICS IF SPMEONE WANTS TO SEE THEM

I have not heard that rumor. Last thing I heard was that they were sold out for this year, if you want a boat and can not find one for sale, you'll have to wait until next year. If thats true, does not sould like he will be going out of business anytime soon. But who knows, just because they are selling does not mean they are making money.
"I heard a rumor this weekend that Buddy Davis was filing for bankruptcy again. Anyone else hear this too or know if there is any truth to it?"
Buddy Davis is actually doing very well. Was told that they are sold out of the 28ft CC for year model 2005 and the first new 34CC should be ready for sea trial late June. I think the third time around might just be the ticket! Its funny how the only rumors that come out in the boating industry are always negative! I guess that’s why they call them rumors
