Well fished the tournament this past Sat in Murrells Inlet and let me tell ya it was cold and the wind was blowing and would not let up. It started out pretty dismal and low and behold after about 6 hrs of sitn still and some trolling I finally got one in the boat @ just over the limit of 13in for the tournament. About 176 people entered and about half of the teams showed up to weigh in. I suspect some folks just got skunked as the weather was not what it should have been and the fish were not biting. The aggregate weight that won was something like 3.32pds, my flounder weighed in at whopping 1.59pds. Good size fish to eat but not to get us in the money, better luck next year. The weigh in was abound with fisherman waiting to see who got the money and have a few eats and then the door prizes were handed out. I must say some of the prizes were quite nice with golf packages to the Dunes Club and $50 gift cards to Liberty Steak house and some fishing rods and tackle givin out. My brother and I may not have placed in the money but we did meet a few people who love to fish and won a few nice items like the new rod and a $50 gift card to the food places. All and all it was worth all of just to spend some time with my bro and hopefully get some fish in the boat. We went back out yesterday and tried our luck again and sat in a couple of places with not a bite. We had our ol man out there with us and were hoping that the bite would get better, but the water temp is not there yet.......soon hopefully. As luck would have it we trolled up behind Marlin Quay marina and my line got slammed by a 2pd flounder, could have used him Sat. Anyway sorry bout the long post but tight lines to all!!!

My bro is off for the next 2 months until he gets back on the boat.......the report for Tues is the flounder action is startin to pick up in Murrells Inlet. They managed to get 3 nice 16in flounders in the boat by bottom fishing and on the troll....set out a portable crab trap and actually had enough for a meal.......still a little windy but the water temp has come up into the 50's in the creeks so the fishing outlook is getting alot better....until tomorrow!

Fishing on Wed got alot better in the inlet with the water temp hittin 52 degrees, that would put 7 15+inch flounders in the boat with a couple of bluefish to boot......weather is not lookin to hot for this weekend when I can finally go but there is always the following weekend. The fish are startin to get more active in the creeks not too much yet from the reefs that we have been able to get to but when I get some info I will post it here. Tight lines.........

Hey GAFFN1,
Thanks for the reports.
I hope to be down that way in a few weeks but will most likely be around the jetties or fish outside the inlet. Where do you launch at? I liked the looks of the public ramp and parking, but mostly because it had water at low tide. All the other ramps were mud.

Keep the info coming!
Anyone else got any info on Murrells?

Hey Scott no problem, since we are fishin a Sea Pro 2100cc we have no choice but to put in at the public ramp, somtimes it gets crowded but once your in it all gravy from there. The PWC activity is starting to pick up in the inlet but they stay clear of the boats. My bro called me and told me that he caught only one flounder today, but the good news is that all of these flounders are being caught on my Penn inshore rod in my absence! If he goes out tomorrow I will put up the info but it might be next week with the weather goin south this weekend. I am trying to find out about another flounder tournament on the inlet in a couple of weeks, if I find our any info I will post here.
