Default Greenville, NC boat ramp

Has anyone ever put in at the Greenville,NC boat ramp? Looking to see how deep the water is around there? Are there alot of logs in the river? I would like to put in a 24 ft Pursuit and ride to Washington. Anyone with experiance? Thanks

yes you can put in at port treminal and go to washington. i would not put that in at the city ramp though it is shallow up that way... from the wildlife ramp to washington is 15+ most of the way.

I second what Blountsman stated. I live about 3 miles from Port Terminal and the channel leaving the ramp is very, very shallow and tight. I would not put that boat in at that ramp. Though the ramp is very nice, and is right off of the river, it is not a good place to launch a boat of that size. I would suggest to take the boat to Tranters Creek Wildlife Ramp. It is located just outisde of Washington off of Clarks Neck Rd.

I would not recommend putting that boat in at the down town boat ramp off of 1st street but you should be fine using the Port Terminal boat ramp off HWY 33 near the new Lowes. I use that atleast 5 times a month and make the run to Washington from there all the time. You have to be careful once you leave the boat landing and make sure you stay to the left side of the channel to make it past the sandbar on the right. The sandbar is maked with Danger markers so you will be able to see it. Once you make it past that you are good to go. You will however have to watch for floating logs anywhere in the river including Washington.

I have been to the city ramp and noticed it was too shallow for me to think about trying. I never thought it would be close to 15+ from port terminal. Thanks, you've been a big help.

There are logs, especially after a lot of rain or high water. stay in the middle of the river and take the turns wide. It is a nice ride. Done it a lot with my 20 outrage. I miss living in Gvegas.

Hmm, you have me thinking of becoming a swamp logger on the weekends. Might get my own logzilla.lol I'm joking. We even have trouble on Kerr Lake after the water is up. I'm used to that.

You can usually see them and can avoid them at speed cause usually the water is fairly flat. You have me wishing I was back in the vegas. Coming to see those Pirates play App on Saturday. I have seen mid twenty footers access at the port terminal off of hwy33 near Lowes. It was tight but not a problem.

It can certainly be done, but for someone new to the water, those sand bars can be a bi***. That is why I suggested Tranters Creek to the OP.
