Default Round 2....Pack and Heels

Three hours until tip off. I'm going to head that way pretty soon to check out warm ups and the pregame stuff. I hope the pack can make this one a little more interesting than the last one. Home court plus improved play over the past few games makes me hopeful. We shall see! We've got to limit the turnovers and force the heels into a half court offense.

Big game. I think this will turn out to be a better game than the first one. Turnovers...yep, we need to do that every game. I think you hit the nail on the head with your second one. Our team didn't seem to have the hustle last game. The heels ran on us, and many times the guys were not getting back on D. Something is wrong when Sean May standing in the lane, beats all of our guys back on D. Have a good time at the game.....I'm jealous. At least I can sit on the couch with a cold one.

Go Pack.

I nominate Herb for the worst coach in history award I am a die hard State fan, but I think our coach is HORRIBLE!!! Does anyone know why Andrew sits on the bench as much as he does. This kid is awesome. He can run the floor, shoot from the outside, block shots, etc, etc...... He comes in the second half brings the Pack to one or two and then gets pulled This is not the only beef I have with Twerb, I mean Herb, but I don't have the time to sit here and complain for the next ten years of my life. All I have to say is WTF!!!!!

I really thought we had a chance. I graduated from State and can say that even then they couldnt seem to win with more talent than the teams that beat them. Go figure....the saga continues. My guess is that this one did Herb in. I am sure the rumors will fly of his departure and then become a reality the day the season ends.

At least it was close!!

(too close for me - being a Tar Heels Fan)

The thought had crossed my mind that if Herb had some how pulled his team through that game with a win, it would be his savior (at least for a little while. If he didn't...well, it'd be time to go.

Anyways,
Go Heels!!!

Felton was awesome during the entire game but primarily in the last eight minutes or so when he drained nearly every shot he took. Scott killed us in the first half with the 3's he didn't miss.

Herb's decisions baffle me sometimes. Brackman does miss defensive assignments sometimes but he is a great offensive threat that provides a spark for the team. I do not understand why his play time is so limited now.

Herb won ACC coach of the year last year and has taken the pack to three straight NCAA tournaments. I wonder if Mr. Fowler will pull the carpet out from under is feet after mediocre success?

Good game by the heels.

Even I don't like Sendek, and I'm a Tar Heel ('88).

It kills me that that the "Woofpack Nation" just want to be able to *like* their coach. Doesn't seem like a lot to ask, does it?

Your AD is ridiculously slow with the hook. How many years did Mike O'Cain absolutely waste? Or Les Robinson?? Unless Herb decides to divorce himself from his bad marriage, I see him around at least for 2005/2006.

I agree -- y'all are against the wall -- let Brackman play. Feed him and Hodge; hit a few 3's and it would have been...closer, anyway.

Also -- weird TO by Herb at, what, 1:40, or so? Just after Hodge hit the 3 to get within 5, I think. Maybe not.

You'll win 2 out of the next 3, for sure, make a surprisingly strong run in the ACC Tournament, and get rejected by the Big Dance, and have fun at the NIT. My prediction.

Note to Herb, if you do decided to stay: Maybe consider scheduling a *little* stronger non-conference schedule?

Hail to the Tarhells............maybe next time. Gosh I'll be glad when Herb is gone.........he may be a "nice guy", but so was Herrion at ECU and Terry booted him yesterday. BTW, ECU is going to be paying near $1MM in salaries for 5 coaches (3 men's football and 2 men's basketball) next year including the guy that replaces Herrion. WOW!

Herb couldn't motivate his own bowels
Hopefully an announcement is forthcoming.........

In Fowler's defense, he wasn't around in the Robinson/O'Cain days. I'd kind of like to see Barnes from Texas head this way. He is a Hickory native and has taken Clemson and Texas to the top ten. I think it would be an improvement. Just thinking out loud.

Yeah, I agree...bad timing on the TO in my opinion...just like the one at the close of the Miami game....both killed the big "MO" and allowed both opponents to regroup...

I don't know Coach Sendek personally, so all I can do is yap about what I see on TV and read in the papers...but the bottom line is he isn't getting the job done. And I'm not just talking about putting w's on the board...inconsistent performances like the Virginia game are unexcusable in anyone's book. This year he did have the makings of a great team...he had the runners and shooters and a great senior leader, but just couldn't put the pieces together. I always wondered which Wolfpack team would show up to play. It's almost like they couldn't decide whether to be a small fast perimeter team or a big inside the paint team...so I think the chemistry suffered from this back-and-forth....and that's squarely the coach's job to take care of...

The whole has got to add up to more than the sum of the parts, not less...Sendek just doesn't seem to have figured out the equation. He seems like a nice guy and a good coach, but to run with the big dogs we need a GREAT coach. Sorry to see anyone lose their job, especially because of a silly game, but I think it's time to find another coach.

I agree totally. I think this "princeton" style offense is out of place in the ACC. I'd like to see more of a high octane "run and gun" style to compete with the heels, wake, and everyone else for that matter. In the first half of the recent Maryland game, we ran well and used our athleticism to our advantage. I think we scored 48 or 49 points in 20 minutes and had a nice lead. In the second half, we slowed down and allowed Maryland to cut the lead significantly. We actually turned the ball over more (not sure how that happened) and scored about half the total from the first half.

I was really worried about the game when I heard that Mccants wasn't going to play. I don't get the Brackman thing either. He can't be that out of shape that he couldn't go in a game that big. I don't know about playing Maryland after that humiliation vs Clemson and w/o Mccants it will be tough.

I'd love to see State hire Rick Barnes. He NEVER beat Carolina in Chapel Hill!!!!

I listened to the game on the radio while I was making shad spoons. I hear Beefmaster Franks is going to put a billboard on the well at Chapel Hill. Gotta admit though, Carolina has a good team this year (ouch, that hurt like admitting I need reading glasses!)

In ‘State’s defense, they gave Herb 9 years, didn’t stab him in the back after three like the ‘Holes did to whatshisname. Even coach K needed a few years to get his act together.

Rumor on Campus is the Texas coach will be getting a call. Fox is gone, Oblinger is in. Maybe next year... chip.

Syndek should be handcuffed and gagged for the last half of every game we play. It seems like every time we call a TO to get reorganized we come out worse. This is really magnified in close games with 2 minutes or less to go. Herb can recruit and he may know something about basketball. He cannot put it together at State though. He has to go. Even when we made it to the Big Dance, we didn't go very far. We looked like we had accomplished what we needed to by getting there. Now just go out there and see what happens. 9 years was an ample oppertunity. If we have a shot at a good coach like Barnes, we need to do what it takes to make that happen.
