AB - 2/20 on the Run-Off My wife constantly reminds me....if God isn't a Tar Heel, then why is the sky Carolina Blue? Well let me tell you guys, get em hitched up and get down to AB right now cuz the bite is on.
I can't give play by play because it was non-stop. In fact the only lull was when Brian went overboard searching for a man in blue. Don't even remember total #'s but it was quite a load of blackfin, a couple really nice big eyes, and 2 40lb class yft. Kings and falsies kept messin w/us all day. Good Stuff (Mike) caught the biggest AJ any of us has ever seen. He's gotta get a pic of that monster! Time went by and no Mr wahoo had visited and we were getting concerned. Low and behold mr hoo rips through the flats and takes out the port short. I get him half way in and bang, mono departs. Marty quickly starts switching over to wire and we're hooked up again and a hoo hits the deck for consumption (last night btw).
Now for the fish story....hot fish takes out the right flat, drop back, gone. Starboard short gets hit, unbuttoned. I drop back and the fish picks up, solid hook up. I hand the rod over to GW204 and he begins the battle. Short battle and fish comes unglued. You see, I had no idea but after all this has transpired, Brian and Mike say they saw a bill on my hook up. Stupid me handed over the rod.
Special thanks to Marty and Brian for putting up w/us and letting us do the rigging and most of the gaffin. The Run-Off is 1 special ride captained and crewed by the best in the business!!!!
From recollection, we started around the 350 line at 40f and worked our way north along the line to southeast of the Big Rock. 71 degree water.
Hopefully Mike and GW204 will chime in. My digital crapped out but Jason got lots of shots and Marty has video. Gotta get me another pass from the wife cuz I may just become a NC boy!!! |
