2-19 and 2-20 Report Went to the Big Rock Saturday. It was a beautiful day. Like glass until the Knuckle and then only a light chop. Trolled the Rock all day but in vain. On the way back in we decided to do some bottom fishing. As soon as we drop the first rig we pulled up Sea Bass and continued to untill we were wore out. ( time to invest in some electric reals). The Sea Bass ranged from 2 to 4 1/2 pounds. Some really nice fish. Sunday we decided to try the Swansboro Hole, one of my favorite places. Sunday was alot calmer that saturday. I haven't seen the seas like that off shore very often. It was like sliding across a mirror the whole way out. We made great time. Once we got there and got our lines out it wasn't too long before i saw something come up behind the teaser and then nail one of our baits. I think we had him one for maybe 6 minutes until he cut the leader. After that we had some trouble finding the fish. Heard some chatter on the radio about hooking up with some yellow fins, and saw a few brought in but we couldn't manage to get one. About 10am we found some good bait and then 3 rods go off we stop and before we can clear the other rods they get bit. Ended up being covered up in False Albacores. We get rigged up again and start trolling when I see a schooly Kings skyin we trolled around them and they were on our baits and our teaser. Constant action. We limitted on the kings and then headed inshore for some bottom fishing. We hit the Sea bass hard again but didn't stay too long b/c we had alot from the day before. It was kind of interesting on the way back because the stearing got loose.....really loose. This weekend was a great weekend. Only bad part is it had to end and i won't beable to go again until my Florida trip March 11th. |
