Beware! Tuna Buyer Dennis Gore of Rainbow Connection around NC
Dennis Gore, the tuna buyer from Long Island who stiffed fishermen, including my friend, out of their money a few years back has apparently surfaced in NC. Any commercial guys on here don't deal with him. He owes over $100,000 to fishermen up north. Also, if you do see him, please rock him in the jaw for me. Thanks.
Here is his Facebook page.. http://www.facebook.com/dennis.gore
I went round and round with this fool when he wanted to start tuna farming in the bahamas!

He is a first class d!ck!
Too bad. I do wish tuna farming could be a viable way to supplement tuna stocks though.
Doesn't sound like this is the guy to do it.

Well they had no intentions of farming..There plan was to Net them, pen them feed them sell them,,They said in the future they would farm them..To this day they have never really figured out how to hatch from a small fry to a full size fish..It got un-approved by the bahamian govt. with the help of a lot of people..Including myself..

Depending on the buyer, a lot of times you get a slip and are paid when they cut checks for everyone. With us, he sent a reefer truck to offload tuna, gave a slip, and said the check was to be cut, drove away to the ferry (I'm on an island), and my buddy never heard from him again. $10k he was out. With the fishing community around me (Vineyard, New Bedford/Fairhaven, Chatham), a buyer would seemingly never think of doing this if he wanted to actually have a business. Guess Gore just wants quick cash and bounce to the next region.
Damned shame when an interloper takes advantage of an easy system built on trust over many years by other people - which threatens that way of doing business for everyone else.
No prob. Just don't want any other guys from a different region to get screwed like some of us up here in New England. Funny he's down south now...guess we ran his ass out of town up here. There were charges against him, and NMFS was looking into him as well. Not sure of what came of it though.

AlexCraig - off subject, but awesome pic of that Bert cutting thru with the deep vee.....
Appreciate the kind words.
Yes, Sir. She puts a pretty impressive hole in the water.
Actually, it was one of two taken (unbenownst to me) by a very kind man who was traveling toward Ocracoke on the ferry who subsequently sent me copies gratis.
I keep waiting for him to take me up on the offer to take him fishing.

That name Bob Kliss sure rang a bell with me. He bent me over on 13 yellowfin I delivered to North Atlantic Traders in Revere/Boston line a few years back. Got a slip and never a penny. One day our paths may cross and boy will he get whats coming. All my fish were over 100lbs, so back in the day it was a pretty good payday @ 3.50/lb. I heard he was working out of Joes a few years ago. I almost went down to see if I could find him, but figured Id get myself in a jam!
