Spring and Fall Rental needed for Pirates Cove/Manteo area - The Hull Truth

My boat is at Pirate's Cove and I would like to rent a small apartment for May June and Sept Oct 2005

I love Pirates Cove but the condo's are a bit expensive to rent for a total of four months.

Thought I would try here on THT before contacting the rental people.

It would be the wife and I and a family member once in a while.

The Admiral wants a quiet place where she can rest.

Ever think about buying a Condo there? I would imagine you could easily rent it out when you were not using it, probably pay for most if not all your expenses.

I am looking at getting a condo . . . the Admiral doesn't fish so we need a place where she is comfortable . . . we rented at Pirate's Cove last year but that was too busy for her . . . she would like quieter

My plan is to buy a slip at Pirate's Cove . . . I like the services and the people are great there . . . this year I am renting a slip from Paul Buske

We will rent a condo or small house for a year or so until we find a place within 10 minutes of Pirate's Cove that makes the Admiral happy . . . her health is not good so that adds another dimension to the decision making

We have a small home/cottage on Lake Ontario and the Admiral found it to much work and stress taking care of two places . . . the cottage is almost sold . . . before we buy a condo or a very small house (2 bedrooms max) we will make sure the Admiral likes the place . . . we are not stuck on having waterfront property, too much money*. . . we just want to be withing walking distance as we both love to walk

I know it sounds a bit indecisive but buying and rigging the boat and getting a place down in the OBX is a big investment for us . . . oh well, one step at a time

Auguste--Pirates Cove can be pretty hectic during the summer months, but there is a big difference between the level of activity during the summer and during the shoulder season you're looking at. Why not drop Carol Owens, the PC rental manager, an e-mail (carol@pirates-cove.com) and see what you can work out for a long term rental? Rental traffic is pretty light before Memorial Day and after Labor Day. I suspect that there are a number of owners who would cut a deal for the length of stay you're looking at. You might also take a look at the houses over in the Village Landings section. There is a fellow from Pa. who used to rent a condo unit in bldg. 6 in the spring and fall who upgraded to Village Landings this year and seemed to be very happy. The sunset views from the west facing balconies of those houses are breathtaking. Peter

Have you looked at Shallowbag Bay...I think that's the name of the condos with slips basically behind the MacDonalds in Manteo?
