Default Electronics Mounting Question

I currently have my electronics mounted on top of my console in brackets. I am upgrading to a larger boat with a T-top and my dealer recommends that I flush mount my GPS and Sonar in the face of the console and put the radio in the box under my T-top. I have 2 concerns. First, I store my boat in my yard, it seems that I would not be able to remove the units how will this effect them. Second, what happens if a unit breaks or wears out or I just want a new one. They don't seem to be a standard size. Any thoughts or advise would be appreciated.

thanks

What boat are you looking at? Does it have an electronics box? If so lots of guys replace the face with starboard and mount the electronics on that. I've seen some that will remove the board with the electronics for storage and put the orignial door on. Might help to post a pic of the boats console your looking at.

Bought my new boat this Spring and got some really good suggestions where to mount my electronics.

have you considered using the swivel mounts????? In this photo the X15 is mounted to a Johnny Ray swivel mount. I can remove the unit unplug the cables and take it with me, in addition it allows the unit to swivel either left or right for better viewing....

let me know if you want a better photo, or if you get the idea......

Default RE: Electronics Mounting Question

I'm looking at the Sea Hunt 232 Center Console. It has a really large console. I like the idea of Flush mounting the Sonar and GPS. I will put the VHF and the Stereo in the electronics box. I got a good suggestion on another forum for making a replaceable yoke out of Starboard to mount the units in and then mounting the yoke into the Console. I'm still interested in other options.
