I did use a couple pin fish with the fins cut off. That's what I hooked the grouper with. Or at least I think it was a grouper or something. Not like any shark I ever hooked. The pin fish had died or gone near the bottom.

Black Bass on a downrigger, I'll remember that. There's certainly no shortage of bait for small black bass. Can you catch cigar minnows at 18 mile rock?

Sometimes I'll detour to Knuckle Bouy on Horseshoe and Tower trips and jig for cigar minnows. I'm no expert, but, I believe they like some structure. Also, you may want to physically mark the Tower on your GPS, I've heard the future published numbers will be a little off.

Congratulations on the grouper hook-up I've caught Black Fin Tuna that acted the same way at the 'Shoe. You can see it at FF photos section (only pic. I could post ). Actually, that one caught by Mrs. FF.
