Default Outer Banks Help

I'm heading down to Southern Shores late tomorrow night for a week of vacation. I hope to do some wade/beach fishing (which I'll need a little help on) but also wanted to do some major boat watching. I've seen a lot of pics of Pirate's Cove but don't know if it's in the area. What about touring some of the builders in Wanchese and Manteo? Is that allowed? If anyone wants to share any fishing info (general info, but I'll take spots if you want to share )or about checking out some of the awesome Carolina SFer's (by far my favorite boats), I would appreciate it. Thanks
Ed

Good Morning!
The answers to all your questions is YES!
Surf fishing is improving with puppy drum, blues and trout..Do you have 4 wheel drive? IF so, you have more options. Corolla beach to the north of Southern Shores and Oregon Inlet to the South. Several good piers in the area. Also large charter fleet at Oregon Inlet, both inshore and offshore. Still good Tuna/dolphin fishing offshore. Fun to walk around and look at boats and the daily catch. Pirates Cove is located on the Nags Head/Manteo Causeway. Beautiful boats both charter and private.. About 20 minutes south of Southern Shores. Most of the boatbuilders are in Wanchese and you can look around and see the boats in various stages of construction.. Buddy Davis, Scarborough, Skully, Briggs,Spencer, Holton to name a few..Good seafood and service, etc is better this time of year..Contact me and I will be glad to be more specific and help..
Also be aware that Jeanne could visit around Monday..
Travel safe.

Blues? I can catch them up here...now Redfish on the other hand....

Thanks for the help. I'll definitely try to catch a tour of one or two boat builders.

Unfortunately, due to tight budget, a charter is not going to be part of the plan. I'm not the biggest fan of pier fishing (but if the fish are there...) so I'll check with local shops and try to hit the beach or find some wading spots.

I'll post a follow up when I get back..how far is it again from RI???? Gonna be a looong ride......

Next time, think about staying in Pirate's Cove.* Beautiful homes, condos, lots of amenities, and very convenient to everything.* We're going to start renting our home there for vacations starting this January.* Has a boat dock*right out back, and a view of the marina out front.* If interested send a PM.

Goto,

When you get there be sure and goto some local tackle shops. They can put you where you need to be on the surf! 2 that come to mind are Frank & Frans and Whalebone. I know F & F is geared to surf fishermen. Here is a link if it will take. http://www.hatteras-island.com/
