Default Snows Cut ???

My dad is real curious about Snows Cut, I have a place at OIB, and am curious as to how much of a run it is to Snows Cut, My Dad thinks we might be better off staying in the Southport area?, I am not sure. Anyone have a sugestions or advice on fishing in Snows Cut, I have been contemplating fishing it for a while, and it sounds like the place for big flounder. Thanks

Snows Cut is just an access channel between the Cape Fear River and the Intercoastal Waterway.

Google Search for Info: Snows Cut

Quote:
... At the west end of Snow's Cut, which connects the Cape Fear River with the ICW, is Carolina Beach State Park.

We have run Snow's cut when the ocean makes us go S of the shoals....come in Southport and roll up the ICW. Its not that far up the waterway but I can't remember how far.

Rusty,
If you are running up from the Southport area, you will probably run over 20 or more flounder holes that are just as good or better than Snow's cut. The cut is fished pretty hard and has a lot of boat traffic in a narrow channel on weekends. Don't know what kind of boat you have, but the river can get pretty frisky between Snow's Cut and Southport if the tides/winds are opposed.

It's not really worth the ride. It's only fishable at dead high and dead low and has lots of traffic. You'll lose a box full of rigs and possibly an anchor. You'd be better off fishing southport and the lower river for the flatties. Snows cut produces the monsters but you'll catch 10 times more down the river and possibly a monster there around southport. tight lines.

Arnold, How far below Snows Cut are you talking about? Southport? There is a nice State owned ramp of Fish factory rd on the way over to Oak Island.

Arnold - There are ramps on each end of Snows Cut. Wildlife (free) on the east end and the State Park ($5.) on the west end. Don't know of any south of there until Southport.
