Default pissed off at my insurance company

You would think that if you purchase a new boat and pick it up on Friday, that calling you current insurance company on Wed before you purchased the boat, that now carries 4 autos, 1 home, just cancelled my old boat policy and a lia policy could get it right! BUT NO I still dont have insurance on the boat, and was not told to me until about 3pm today!!!!! They say I did not give them all the info needed to bind the policy.

should they not have asked me what brand of boat I purchased eventhough they called the dealer and had all the model number and serial number off the boat, trailer and motor? A call to Nationwide corp office to see if I could get a binder for my 25yrs of insurance including about 8 boat policys fell on deaf ears. Now they say due to Earl that they dont know when they will be able to accept a binder for the boat. I will be really pissed off if I am uninsured for the weekend.

thank goodness I am not trying to get a claim filed!!

hate to say it but its time to change agents and/or companys

VERY POOR CUSTOMER SERVICE FROM NATIONWIDE INSURNACE CO

Been very happy with Progressive for my boat. They covered a loss for me I would not have expected them to cover.

Autos and house are with another carrier, but that may be changing now that I added my 16 YO daighter, and need to be shoping auto rates again.

I do not have progressive now since we switched everything over to Travelers for a nice discount through BB&T... But when I had progressive a dude from Wilmington came over, talked for a few minutes and sent me a check. No problems and it was way too easy!

Yea Allstate want even tell you what they will pay off in a total loss, where do these companies get their agents? Surely they know the value of what they have covered.

Farm Bureau is by far the easiest I have seen to work with. Recently I have seen them pay 2 of my buddies totaled trucks off in 3 days. Both had financed 95% of the purchase and both walked away ahead on the payoff, that is impressive.

They are the only auto ins that doesn't use aftermarket or USED parts on a repair. One of my buddies has a big body shop so I see this all the time.

Been with Nationwide for 18 yrs. When I make the move, it will be to FB.....

I used to be an adjuster for Farm Bureau. My job was to "pay the man." My job was NOT to try and get out of paying the man. There were several times when I had vehicle claims paid the same day.

The Farm Bureau adjuster is overworked, underpaid and under no pressure to pay less than they owe you. Be nice to them and they will be nice to you. It's the kind of insurance company you want to do business with.

Although I do have to say that the job sucked.

After seeing enough of Nationwide's commercials, along with all the others, I checked into Farm Bureau when a friend recommended them. With 2 cars and home owners, FB is going to save me several hundred a year. Have been with NW for over 20 years, but at renewal time this month, I will give FB my business. I may have to sit through NW advertisements, but i wont pay for them any more.

John - Give Adam or Liz a call at Charter Lakes. Located on the mainland side down at Wrightsville. They can't bind cov'g right now either due to the storm and I think Lis said that they couldn't bind until Monday. They have done right by me in terms of cov'g.. never had a claim so don't know how that would work out. My policy is with Travelers. I'll have both my boats insured thru them,,, after they cover my latest one on Monday.

First, let me say that Nationwide sucks. I've been with Liberty Mutual for 10 or so years, cars, homeowners and boat. I am in the process of switching to Farm Bureau and cancelling my LM policies. I will save on $1100/yr with FB even after adding our place at the beach to the policy. To give you an example of what idiots Liberty Mutual has working for them, I called to remove my 26 year old son from my policy and my premium was going to go up. I asked why and they said because he got the college graduate discount. But, now you will get the mature driver discount but it is not as much as the college graduate discount. I said wait a minute, I'm a college graduate, even have the policy thru the alumni association. They said but you can't have two discounts for the same person and I said well, give me the college graduate. They said they couldn't do that that I had to take the mature driver discount. So, after careful consideration of less than 1ms, I said well put my son back on my policy. They said okay and my premium stayed the same price as before. What idiots. I'm done with them.

the last time I talked to charter lakes they were not geared for small boats but I will call them today.

The more I think about it the madder I get its like someone asking me for a loan without me asking them any questions about what they want, how much, collateral, ect but still just turning them down for the loan

You touched a nerve on this one....I just fired Nationwide for all my insurance...I had them for 15 years without a single claim. This past month I had an auto claim and a speeding ticket that hit at the same time. First they handled the claim horribly, my wife's car is still not right after 2 months and second they dropped my Comprehensive coverage. To reinstate it my premium went up 300%. I switched to Geico for all my vehicles, it was less than half the cost.

The irony to me of Nationwide is their present ad campaign is a "Fast Eddie" sales guy. That is exactly how I feel dealing with my claim, only it's not so funny when you car is in the shop and they are passing you to 5 different guys all of whom say it's not their job.

Now that I'm ranting....Nationwide also droped my parents beach house policy after 20 years without a claim...the said they were "minimizing risk"....that was back in 2005.

Now that my posting is working. SO I will say I am an agent for Farm Bureau. I do know we give really great discounts for multiple policies within the company. I also know that normally we have pretty competitive pricing and coverage against anybody on your everyday boats. I will also say that our adjusters are trained to take care of the clients and help them out. Not saying we are the best but we are right up there and we go the extra mile to help the clients. The benifits of being witht farm bureau is greater than that of any other company in my opinion. I will also say that I am not familiar with Charter but have asked some of the older guys and they said they have not heard much on them But Travelers is normally right in line with us when it comes to coverage and prices.
