Default Blew up engine yesterday on the Neuse while striper fishing

I am now thinking and rethinking what to do next. Used motor, used with warrenty etc etc. I have a Century 2300 CC. I lost a 200 Yamaha. Mechanic tells me the powerpack failed, double fired and caused the loss of one of the cylanders/pistons. SHOT is the term he used. I would appreciate any experiences on this - hull is a 1998 and in really good condition except for the ugly bottom paint from the original owner. Give me some ideas - my greatest fear is throwing good money after bad.

I was in same situation as you couple of years ago, I looked at rebuild and buying used.

I was already looking at boats with a 4 stroke motor in my spare time, when my old 99 suzie blew I bit the bullet and purchased a new F200 and it was the best move I have made.

My boat was already set up like I need(trolling motor, electronics and etc) and I know a rebuit motor is good but it is still rebuilt also purchasing used is well you never know what you are gonna get.

I did sweat it a little but have never regretted it at all

depends on how long you plan to keep the boat, if over 3 yrs repower with 1 yr or less old if less go with a used motor hope you find one

If your going to keep the boat; repower, but there are ALOT of very good used boats out there now for really great prices.

Good Luck,
