Figured I would post a few recent Blog enteries about the recent OBX Nor'Easter.

Things got pretty bad for Kitty Hawk, South Nags Head & Hatteras Island. I have been as far south as South Nags Head so far & plan to get down to Hatteras Island either late this week or early next week. I figured they had enough going on down there right now that they didn't need one additional Real Estate agent down there checking on clients houses. Thanks for the pics. That is quite a mess there. Guess it is busy with the clean up there now.

How does it work with the houses that are knocked down and are now on the beach? The owners get a check from flood insurance for the pre storm value, and then don't own land any more? Always wondered how it is recorded when your "land" no longer exists.

Can you pay to have sand replenished and rebuild?

Well FEMA flood is only good for up to $250,000 so if the house is worth more than that & lost due to a situation like this you would have to have purchased additional insurance from someone like Lords of London.

One of the risks of owning oceanfront property is that you can not insure the land, so once the land is gone it's gone.

Here is an example from Dare County tax records of a lot that was washed out.
