Default Seafood market on the way to Harkers Island?

A buddy and I are spending the weekend on Harker's Island (fishing around Cape Lookout). We plan to do a Frogmore Stew one evening and it seems to make sense to buy shrimp when we get there rather than buy frozen Chinese shrimp at home and haul it to Harkers Island.

We'll be going through New Bern, Havelock, etc on the way there. Any suggestions on where to find fresh shrimp?

Also, we're hoping to hook up with some false albacore and/or spanish mackeral around Cape Lookout... Are they hanging around near shore now?

Are you taking 101 to Harkers or staying on 70 thru Morehead and Beaufort? If on 70, there is a seafood house next door to EJW Outdoors just as you come into to Morehead on the right. There is also another one leaving Beaufort across from the liquor store.

If you are going the back way down 101 there is a house about a mile down Harkers Island Rd on the right that sometimes has them for sale. They'll have a sign out. There is also a house/gift shop called Captain Blaine's on the left on Harkers and another one past the elementary school on the right. I think that one is called "Big Man Seafood".

Thanks for the info. We always take 101, but we could detour if needed. Sounds like we have at least 2 chances of getting shrimp on Harker's Island, so we'll try that.. If we strike out I guess we'll have to backtrack.

All up and down from Barden's Inlet to the piers in Atlantic Beach was covered up with alberts and bluefish 2 weeks ago. The spanish were gone...water temp was 68.
