Random Quote: I refuse to have a battle of wits with an unarmed person!
There are rumors which are unsubstantiated at this point that all on the road gas stations will have to have ethanol by Nov 1st according to Washington to extend the gas supply. Would be interested to find out what others know.
Did anybody test a sample to be sure? BTW, PC Marina is Ethanol free.
Good question since ther are no loas or agencies that certify if a fuel is ethanol free or 10% or more. I unerstandit is mixed in at the port and it not an exact science.
It would be interesting to hear from someone who actually works at the refinery as to how its actually mixed in with regular fuel.

I asked the clerk... she stated they had no ethanol in their fuel and planned on keeping it that way. There are no stickers on the pump stating they are pumping ethanol mixed fuel. Like I said I only asked a clerk not a owner/operator of the station. I can promise you all my small Honda four stroke equip. engines clearly run better on this fuel. Pc is a good coice for fuel as well
Ba careful of what they tell you and what really is the truth. Local marina in the Southport area was telling everyone that their fuel was Ethanol free and happens to get their fuel from the same source of another marina. When the second marina called the supplier to get Ethanol free gas, they were told they they "do not" supply Ethanol free fuel. The only fuel they have contains Ethanol.

The ethanol is added by the driver before he leaves the terminal. The fuel in the pipeline does NOT contain ethanol. At our marina, Harbour Village in Hampstead, the fuel is tested when it comes in. In order to get ethanol free fuel you have to buy a tanker load at a time. We do not get our fuel at the same places other marinas get theirs.
You can test your own fuel. Get a small medicine bottle with markings of fluid levels on the side. Put in 1 ml water, then add 9 ml fuel and shake. The ethanol will combine with the water at the bottom and the fuel will float on top. If there is 1.9 ml of liquid at the bottom after shaking and settling, the fuel contained 10% ethanol. (10% of 9.0 ml is .9 ml plus the 1.0 ml water) I checked my fuel all the time last winter in North Carolina as they do not have to put a placard on the pumps. Ethanol gives fuel an additional 2-3 points of octane but it contains much less btu's of energy. Your car will get less mileage, your boat won't get as good a mpg, and ethanol is a strong solvent that will clean all the gunk that builds up in some tanks, clogging the filters, (or worse) and can eat some rubbers and plastics, as well as fiberglass for those of us with older boats with glass tanks. Ethanol is bad juju for any internal combustion engine imho.

I find it hard to believe that the truck driver tweaks the gas in anyway.....my very good friend is a major eastern NC petroleum dealer and per his word, "getting ethanol free gas is next to impossible now...." I have a feeling that most of this ethanol free is a sales pitch

This has been covered hundreds of times. Ethanol is corrosive, and it is delivered to the fuel terminal by truck or rail, where it is bulk stored separately from the gasoline. When the fuel is loaded into the delivery truck, gasoline and ethanol are each dispensed at a ratio of 1 gallon ethanol to 9 gallons gasoline if e10 is desired. Thus, it is also possible to load pure gasoline.
spoke to master mechanic at joes marine about PC ethanol free fuel and he said he had heard the same and tested it and found it had ethanol in it....don;t remember the percentage he said....but he said it is impossible to get ethanol free fuel now. There are no ethanol free tankers running down and giving it to only one place, if it can be had at all, from what he said.

Makes sense to me; I do not beleive ethanol free fuel exists anymore.

Tankers have 3 compartments so can haul different products simultaneously.
I guess you'll never know unless you test it yourself !
The state of NC is too WEAK to require it to be posted on the pump !
One of the only states to not require it !
Just goes to show you can still buy politions in this country !
