Default Topsail Fishing This Weekend

Let me first say that I am not fishing the US Open.

Will be heading up to Topsail Island this coming Wednesday for some offshore fishing. This will be my first time fishing in this area and need some advice on good locations and any other recomendations. Will be targeting kings mostly unless we find a stray phin. Thanks for all the input in advance.

Keith

Fish the beach...they are catching nice kings off the piers.

Watch the tides closely in the inlet. It gets pretty sporting on an outgoing tide with white water all the way across on the bar. If you have not run it, go out at high tide and mark your tracks for coming back in. If there are breakers all the way across on the way in, try to stay on the back side of the wave and ride it all the way in so the one behind you does not break over your stern. Can get pretty tricky in the inlet.
The nuns and cans are in good places and there is water between them over the bar.

Keith - you aren't fishing the US Open? Going up there to get away from all the boats that will be down here? Also, I here they are killing the spots up their this past weekend..

Jim,

NO WAY.I don't think I'm anywhere ready to fish the Open. Naw, just a group old high school buddies getting together for a long weekend of fishing and golfing. There will be two boats already up there so I probably wont even take mine.

It's been reported there are grey trout on the bottom at the near shore reefs. Wouldn't be surprised to find kings there too being that the piers are doing well. AR-360, AR-364, AR-370

Thanks everyone for their good words. Hopefully, I'll have something to report about Monday. Good fishing to you all.
