Registration search - The Hull Truth

Hello to y'all. New here and have a couple questions. I am looking at purchasing a boat that has been sitting for awhile in a ladies yard. It belonged to her boyfreind that has passed away. It has been a year since his death. She wants to get the boat out of her yard but doesn't know what to do about the titling part of it. It is registered in NC We are in SC Is there any way to do this. There is no will No executer. It is a small 16' boat with outboard motor. No trailer. Is there a way I can search the registration number to make sure it comes back in his name? It could be in his ex-wifes name which would make things easier as we know where she is. She has no idea if it was in her name or not. Is it possible that the lady he lived with could file for abandonment since it has been setting in her yard for a year now? She did try and contact any family members but they have no interest at all in the boat. They are out west somewhere. Does NC require titles for the motor or just trailers and boats? I think you can search the wildlife site and or call them they should be able to tell you the register name or confirm it tell them she no longer has the registration card and what needs to be done
