Ophelia is in the boondocks.... Been there once. You definitely need local knowledge.... just to get there.

My cousin (commercial fisherman downeast) said it is now closed as is the inlet north of it, either drum or old drum, the only one open is the southern most and it take a bit of knowledge to get there. There is a boat ramp in the Atlantic harbor, but I have never launched anything over 20' there. Dad is from Atlantic, parents have house on the water on Core Sound Loop, almost directly across from those 3 inlets.

I have some friends down that way, the inlet is open but getting to it is the problem. You need local knowledge otherwise be prepared to spend some time high and dry, not sure if the channel is "marked" which means steaks in the sand with clam bags on them or not.

Put in at Cedar Creek camp ground (Sea Level) tell Mr. Nelson what your plans are, he'll give you a good heads up. The inlet or "drain" as some call it is wide and deep, heading over at low tide will help.
