Random Quote: A woman without a man is like a fish without a bicycle.
The winds kept me from going out today ( Friday ) Between the winds, full moon and my wife's desire to dictate our weekend plans. It looks like I will have to wait until mid week to get out and test the waters. But I think once the winds shift and with the cooler water and all the bait around, next week is looking mighty good in my book. So today I settled on fishing my pond for a while, and to my surprise the bass cooperated. I just recently installed a a fountain ( aerator ) that I bought on Craig's list that also lights up at night. The water quality is much better with all the oxygen. And the fish should do much better. The pond is only two acres but has a good population of bass, bream, crappie and flat head minnows. Last year I posted pics of a reef in the center of the pond. The reef is doing well, lots of resident minnows and bream on it. The bass today were good and heavy and frisky, of course I just catch and release. It is a fishing fix in a pinch. Not quite like fighting a sail or a 30# king but its right outside my doorstep. And DNR can not check my john boat for beer either! So I will wait patiently until the perfect day to hit blue water. I actually put two rod holders on the john boat and troll, which seems to work great on the bass. ~JJ~

the east wind seems to give the fish "lock jaw".. have never had anyone who can really explain why, but they will not bite. Also the way the shore line in in this part of NC/SC, it make for a sloppy day. Are you in PA??

That's been my experience, too. "West is best, east the least."

I do not find the bite to be any different with an east wind. I do however find the seas to be miserable with a NE wind. I'm off the next 7 days and it looks like I'll be hitting the lynx and not fishing. I swear you can predict the weather by my schedule. A NE wind always blows more than they predict around here. NE 10-15 means NE 15-20 with a wind blown chop that will beat you to death!!

Don't feel like the lone stranger. Took a month off to finish some things around the house and dock and two big blows pass us on the east coast, NE/E winds and raining its butt off up there this morning.
Did get a chance to get into the sound yesterday at Edenton for some early small striper fishing and netted a few but our friends we carried out with the wind comming stright down the sound later in the day ,,, started to change colors so that was one more sign I suppose. LOL Remember all those things we have put off that keep calling us to finish instead of fishing??? Our friends decided yesterday that maybe the ocean is better off left to the fish.
