Default Has anyone been fishing???

This summer has had very few reports from the THT regulars. I personally have not fished a whole lot this summer. Between a re-power and a broken ankle and all kinds of family obligations I have only been out a handful of times. Now that the ankle is on the heal and the fall is just around the corner, I plan to start fishing again on a regular basis. All the weird weather has made me stay home more than once this season. I hope to start seeing some reports, as I always depend on you guy's to steer me in the right direction. On the bright side, we had a banner year with the mahi which I only had one chance in June to fish for. The pogies have been abundant and the kings were large. So I figure the fall might be a real hot bite. Lets get fishin' guy's and post. ~tight lines, Jay~

Dad is going bottom fishing with one of his friends tomorrow. Most likely around 10-15 miles. Thats the plan atleast. I am stuck in school so I am out on that trip. Ill let you know how they do.

There has been some bait right off the little pier at the cherry grove boat ramp. Some big mullet and shrimp. Havent heard much about the pogies.

Heard that the king tourney's last weekend in Topsail and the Brunswick Isle one didn't produce much. Hope you finish your ankle recovery quickly and can get back into fishing.

Glad to see some cooler temps, man the water has been too hot. But with all the rain, how will that affect the fishing conditions?

I have not done the stream in a long time, I might try to get out there once this season. The cooler temps should help, the rain might mess things up. I might try to get out friday if the weather works. I am at my condo doing late season minor repairs, I have a renter coming in Saturday for a week. I just got the high speed modem replaced, someone tore up the old one and stole the power cord. I am going to place this modem where it is not in plain view. And do some paint touch up and minor wall patch. Boy, the renters are really hard on a place. Anyway, I think I can finish up in a day or two then get out and look for fish.~JJ~

Weekender with my normal crew 9-11 rods tuna fishing. The day of the video we were running 9 rods. It is hectic but we have more multiple hookups with more rods and hooks in the water. That day we had 4 quad hookups on the Tuna. The Multiple fish videos are in the works. It takes patience to say the least especially when you fish like we do. We try to leave as many rods in the water as possible while fighting the fish. We catch quite a few while fighting other fish. In the dolphin videos we we run 8 with a planer rod...Mark

Mark, you need to get a TV show. All summer you catch pelagics and all winter you nail bucks with a compound bow. You make me feel like a total failure. LOL just kidding. Keep the vids coming.~JJ~

Jay I do it because I really like it. It is just fun and a challenge to get good video on a boat or in a tree. Speaking of trees one is calling me !! Headed to do a little scouting and hopefully get a little footage...3:00 I am out of here!! Mark

We plan to increase the number of lines out, Two shot gun holders and two planer boards. And another down rigger. We think we can handle 8 lines comfortably after a few trials. Eight lines without outriggers is a bit of a hassle to say the least, but my guys want to try it. I have a good mix of fishing buddies and when we get in the groove we can keep the lines apart. ~JJ~

Hey Jay

I'm headed out of Holden Beach this weekend...if the weather cooperates I might try some bottom fishing and king fishing in the 18 mile range. Probably stay close to the beach and catch spanish or some nearshore kings one day out of the weekend too.

Would love to take the wife to the 90's and let her in on some kings--that's about as far offshore as I can get her.

I'll post a report when I get back.

The winds have kept me close to the hill when I have gotten down to the beach this summer. Got some teenager kings at the 90's and the sharkhole earlier this summer...that's about it.

Lots of guys are fishing this year, just not reporting as much. I know I don't, at least not on this commercialized site. We report on much friendlier sites that are more in tune to the zones.....

Jay run your spread tight to the boat you will have fewer problems. We have been running all the lines including the long center inside of 75yds.
