Default Lake Hartwell SC - GA

Greetings:
I am a new member to The Hull Truth and will be traveling to Lake Hartwell in a couple of weeks. I am into fishing, cruising and water sports with the family. We have never been to Hartwell and if anybody has some general tips like marinas, places to possibly eat on the water and places to to fish, it would be great. We are camping at Tugaloo State Park in Ga and bringing our boat too. Thanks in advance for your tips and ideas.

Bob

Hartwell is a beautiful lake. You shouldn't have any problem finding a place for water sports as Hartwell has many coves to ski in. Portman Marina at exit 14 in SC has two restaurants that can be reached by water. The Galley and Namis Asian Bistro are both good. There are other places on the lake to eat as well but I have not been to them so I cannot give advice on those. You can cruise to the dam or ride up to Clemson, SC where you can see Death Valley from the water.

As for fishing most free line herring down to striper's and hybrids or slow troll herring. You can also wait until late afternoon/evening and catch hybrids busting the top of the water.

Hope this helps a little

Charlie T's in 26 mile creek. Good wings, burgers, cold beer etc. Namis is some of the best sushi I have ever had anywhere, you can't go wrong there. Friends @ Stone Creek is also good. (the grill at Stone Creek Cove golf course) Winekers (sp?) is also a good restaurant. You will need either a SC or GA fishing license.
Have fun!!
