Default Oil for Yamaha F250

Got a question for the mechanics out there. I have always used Yamalube when changing out the oil in my motors. I noticed on this website http://www.bogueinletnc.com/yamaha/ (very helpful BTW) that it appears Castrol is being used. Is it ok to use any 10w30 motor oil in your engine?

As for the lower unit is was told to use Mercury Lower Unit oil by my mechanic because it does the same thing and is cheaper.

Need to do my 300 hour service here shortly.

Thanks,
Matt
