What do you think about Saturday?
NOAA Forecast FRI
NE WINDS 5 TO 10 KT. SEAS 2 TO 4 FT. A SLIGHT CHANCE OF
SHOWERS AND TSTMS IN THE MORNING. FRI NIGHT
E WINDS 5 TO 10 KT. SEAS 2 TO 3 FT. SAT
S WINDS 10 TO 15 KT. SEAS 2 TO 3 FT.
Low tide is 4:16 am.
There is a NE wind on Friday. Would you go out with the
charters at 5:30 on Saturday morning? I usually fish either
a 25' Carolina Classic or a 26' Sailfish. |
My advise is:
Coastal forecast:
FRI...NE WINDS 5 TO 10 KT. SEAS 2 TO 4 FT. A SLIGHT CHANCE OF
SHOWERS AND TSTMS IN THE MORNING.
.FRI NIGHT...E WINDS 5 TO 10 KT. SEAS 2 TO 3 FT.
.SAT...S WINDS 10 TO 15 KT. SEAS 2 TO 3 FT.
.SUN...SW WINDS 10 KT. SEAS 2 TO 3 FT.
Offshore forecast:
FRI...WINDS DIMINISHING TO VARIABLE 10 KT OR LESS THROUGHOUT.
SEAS BECOMING 2 TO 5 FT...HIGHEST E.
.SAT...WINDS BECOMING S TO SW 10 TO 15 KT. SEAS 2 TO 4 FT.
.SUN...W TO SW WINDS 10 TO 15 KT. SEAS 2 TO 4 FT.
So, yes it is fishable, especially in the boats you are talking about.
Now as far as the inlet under those conditions I would be very cautious.
If Saturday morning it's east 10 knots at low tide.....
that's a big red flag. The tide will still flow out for a couple of hours
past low tide.
I would check the numbers again before I launch.
Then if it's stil ENE, I would pull up at the first or second
set of bouys and take a good look before I shoot it.
I don't run an inlet with the charters. I don't want a guy on a 50 foot boat making my decision for my boat.
Looks like we may fish it Sunday on Marks boat. I have to be at NC State on Saturday.
