Default Tile fish

I was wanting to know what is the best bait for tile fish and about how deep do you fish for them? I will be going out of oregon inlet, is it better to go more north or south for them. We will be trolling for dolphin and if we can't find them we thought we would try to catch some or whatever will bite. IF we get lucky enough to catch some, how is the best way to fix them?

Thanks

Squid works well. Do a search, there have been past posts on how and where to catch them. It's a rather bland fish imho, and high in Mercury. So I don't get too excited about those fat lipped things anymove. Catch of last resort. You have a good chance of finding some Dolphin. Good luck!

Cut squid and cut tilefish, 90 degrees out of the inlet 280' of water, about 30 miles. Use double drop bottomrigs with a 6/0 eagle claw sea circle hook...Take 20-30 ounce leads, prefer to use braid line to help with stretch so you can feel bite. 5 per person...If your on them you will know almost immediately, if it doesnt work just move around a little, you'll find em'.

I cook them on the grill covered with Mayo and parmasean cheese mixture. Fry them too...Very good, firm white meat.

Thats going a little far, but they are good!

You can have fun in the inlet as well with Spanish and Blues if the tide is right!
