Default Wrightsville this weekend.

I am trying to head down to Wrightsville this Saturday for the day. I plan on launching at the ramp on the left right after you cross the bridge (rt.74). I have never been down there with a boat and want to try any kind of fishing, Flounder Specks, blues, Spaniards. This is like and exploratory mission for me, I just bought a 18.5 Keywest CC with a 130 Honda.

The only time I have seen the intercoastal or the backwaters was on my way offshore. As to say the only time I have seen any water inside the inlet was before 5 am heading out and after 6 pm heading in.
I have heard that the ramp I intend to use is full by 7 am, is this true? If in fact it is true are there alternatives?
If anyone is going to be in that area please let me know

I will be coming from Raleigh, anyone want to come along?

Hey Capt. Rick
Yes, that ramp gets full fast. It is still not impossible as long as you are not in a big hurry. If you get there in late morning you can launch your boat and then pull up and wait for someone that would be coming in for the day and ask them for their spot. Sounds crazy but I have done it more than once and never had to wait more than 15 - 30 mins. There is a ramp ar Caroilna Beach also. It has more than twice the parking but is another 20-30 min drive depending on traffic.

AS far as fishing I would head south to Masonboro Inlet if you put in at WB. You can drift for flounder or go out the inlet for spanish if you like. You can't miss the cut through to the inlet. There is a green can in the middle of the turn to the right not far after you pass the entrance to Bradley Creek Marina.

Carolina Beach has two ramp locations. The Wildlife Ramp and the State Park. I prefer the State Park as its less crowded (maybe because it costs $5.00), and has two good ramps.

Can I get directions to the Carolina Ramp possibly? I do not think I will be down until 9-10 am and do not want to be messing around the Wrightsville Ramp if at all possible.

Here is the web page for Carolina Beach It has directions and other good info. Let us know how it works out. I have never been down there, but if it looks good I may camp and fish there this summer.

Last Saturday I put in at Wrightsville beach ramp at 5:45 am and got the last parking spot. This place is crazy on the weekends.
