My boat has actually been back two weeks, but I have not been able to enjoy it yet.
I just spent 14 days doing a total remodel on my beach condo. Now I plan to do the break in on the new motor. After returning home from the 14 day remodel, my property was so overgrown. I spent all day Sunday mowing and weed eating. Now its time to get into the swing of things. I love the new four stroke it is extremely smooth and quiet. I plan to fish this week and will post if I have anything to post. I am really excited to get back on the water.
I plan to do the Jungle and the ledge first, then venture out further after a few trips. Maybe buddy up for the stream with some of you. ~JJ~

I went to the Jungle on Thursday and Saturday last week. We caught a few Kings, one Dolphin and one Cobia. Sounded like the 390's were hot on Saturday.
Thanks for the heads up, maybe I will hit the 90's first time out. I have done well there in the past. I might go tomorrow if I get a chance. I still have a pile of unopened mail to deal with, after being away for two weeks. But I am itching to fish and try out the new Yammy. ~JJ~

I finally got a chance to fish yesterday with the new motor, which trolled beautifully.
I fished 90/90 out of little River for the afternoon. The fishing was slow and the radio chatter indicated most boats in my area were not doing much either. Just when I was ready to call it a day a king hit my long flat line, so the new motor is no longer a virgin. The king was about ten pounds, we managed one more smaller king about six pounds and a black sea bass on the down rigger. The boat handled great coming in at 30 knots. Great first time out despite the slow fishing!~JJ~

90/90 is pretty hot, I got five, lost two while answering my cell phone. I only fished from 3- 6 PM. I saw a school of large Cobia but by the time I grabbed my spinning rod they were nowhere to be found. All five kings were on the small side about 8 to 11 LBS. It was a spur of the moment trip after messing around with my tackle and cleaning the boat. Lots of weeds in the area. The kings would only hit when my cell would ring. Next time it stays in the dry box where I cannot hear it. I might go out again Thursday.~JJ~

Hey Jay, what are you using fishing the 90's? I usually just pull frozen cigars on hank browns but I did fish some live pogies earlier in the week along the beach.
Might be out there Thursday if the weather cooperates. Call for bigjohn and I'll let you know what I'm hearing.
Mostly dead cigars on my own Hank brown copies I make for about a buck a rig. Sometimes I catch live cigars with sibiki's, but I always carry a box of frozen just in case. I was planning to go thursday, but my buddies want to go friday instead. I think I will hit the atlantic ledge or Christina ledge friday. I hear the Mahi are hanging around the ledge. I used to buy Hank Browns but they get chewed up fast and at 7-8 bucks a piece I decided to make my own. Mine work just as good, sometimes better because I can use different types of skirts or pull hollow rubber squids as skirts. ~JJ~ P.S. the weather looks better Friday

Yeah I think I might wait until Friday.... would love some mahi but not sure if I want to make that run in the 21 Carolina Skiff DLV. I've run 17 miles out before but on a slick day. Still might go for it though...
I might start at the 90's then run to the Jungle, then the ledge I will monitor the radio and we can touch base. I need to fix my raw water wash down, I found a broken wire and need to replace the terminal end. Good luck if you get out Friday.....~JJ~

I'll look for you in the morning. I'll be in a 19 ft Carolina Skiff, starting at the 90's then maybe out to Christinas. If it's too rough we'll just stay close to the beach and spanish fish but the reefcast is looking good for tomorrow morning.
Good luck, and give me a shout. What kind of boat are you in?
Did you make it out today Jay? I forgot to ask what channel you normally monitor.
I got one king, about 12 lbs and a nice 4 1/2 pound spanish. Otherwise, about 7-8 sharks, a lizard fish and a black sea bass (trolling about 30 feet deep). Fished at the 90's the whole time.... got beat all to hell on the way out, then it layed down nicely around 10:00 or so.
Staying inside looking for flounder tomorrow, then back home.
I was at the 90's from about 2 PM till 5 PM. Were you with the group of boats trolling there? I didn't get a nibble near the other boats, so I went back in about two miles towards shore to my fishing spot and got two Kings, one small and one about twelve pounds. We lost 7 kings to short strikes and bite offs. I tried to raise you on the radio calling Big John but I did not know which channel you monitor. I was on 68 and 12. We have been having better luck inshore of the 90's. I will probably be back out during the week..... Jay

Thanks Jay. I left around 2:00. I normally monitor 06 but will listen out on the others next time.
I talked to a guy that said he hit a nice color change about two miles inshore of the 390s and got some good kings, and I think one of the OIFC boats got several at 10 mile rock.
Slow day for spanish, trout and flounder today...damn it was hot. Gotta go home tomorrow, but will be back the weekend of the 4th (along with everyone else).
