John I got a late start Friday due to two of my guys canceling at the last minute. So when I got to my slip in the morning I was trying to fix my raw water wash down. It is still not working. I think the pump is clogged or bad. We, two of us headed out late, we saw a slight temp drop from 80.6 to 79.2 two miles inshore of the 90's and marked lively bottom, but still headed to the 90's. lot's of boats trolling when we got there, but I didn't see anyone catching . We trolled 90 about an hour, then headed back to the temp drop. We started getting hits and misses, lots of bite offs just behind the head, even with stinger hooks.
We managed to land two Kings, lost seven even with a few stingers being bite off. I saw a whale near the temp break. It's tail came out of the water and slapped causing a huge splash. We also saw flying fish, which surprised me so close in. We only fished about four hours total. We headed in as the tide started to turn and drop. I prefer fishing the outgoing, we fished the incoming, and never bothered to set up our down rigger. We marked alot of stuff at 20 to 30 feet, I probably should have set out the downrigger. I will monitor 06 if i think you might be out there. Jay
