Not bad for a first trip.... I'm surprised I don't see more gaffers in the bed of that truck!

We caught the gaffer earlier and then the rest of the trip was spent fighting those 2. They hit at the same time, one on a bent butt shotgun off the T-top and the other off of the port long rigger. We could stand-up fight one and it took about 1.5 hours. The other one hit the bent butt and that one had to be fight from the gunnels so it took about 2.75 hours to pick that up. I was fishing on a buddies boat and the only gaff that we had was a 4 footer with a 4" hook, which made me a little nervous to bring em in. It was an interesting trip to say the least. I fish out of MHC regularly but I have never been and caught any tuna.
Carl, Kathy and I are coming down to HI next week. We are staying at "Hunt Cottage" near the fishing center. If you and Casey and your wife are around that next week, give me a call or come by the fishing center. Perhaps we can get over to the Atlas or out to the gulf stream and enjoy some fishing.
Thinking about going next week, but I have not fished out of OI. How far out did you go? Where you north or south. Any info would be great for the tuna. Thanks.
