I just don't understand why you couldn't be as helpful in your first post as in your last.
It just bugs me when guys just throw worst case scenarios up without any explanation. If one is educated about how and when to fish then just a little local knowledge is all that is needed from the guys on this website. No need for the gloom and doom of one experience.
When I said 'never again' I meant never again on a boat under 30ft. And I never have since then. It only takes once to learn that a 25ft boat in 10ft seas was never meant to be. That being said, i was not as knowledgeable about all weather variables back then as I am now. like someone said, if you fish out of OI or Hatteras you become a meteorologist regardless of boat size. They dont call it the graveyard of the atlantic for nothing...

Pablor

You are correct about the NE wind, hence my comment about checking the weather which includes the wind direction.

pick your days and follow someone out to get your feel for the inlet.

OI is a great place for a small boat if you watch the weather. Where else on the east coast can you go out 30-35 miles put lines in and catch YFTs Blue and White Marlin Sails and any of the other Pelagic fishes. If you are smart and watch the weather you will have a great time.....Mark

It's all about exp..and using some common sense. I fish for a living so what I would consider doable is going to be diffrent from most other guys. What I've learned over the years is to use a couple diffrent weather forcasting sites all get there info from the same data source but imput it into diffrent programs, hence all the diffrent forecasts..Learn the inlet, tides, winds ect...and most of all your ability of running and handling your boat.
