Name: David Nance

Location: Raleigh/Cedar Point

Occupation: Systems Manager for NC Lottery

Hobbies: Saltwater fishing, bow fishing, clamming, golf, all Wolfpack athletics especially tailgating at Carter Finley.

Stats: Ball & Chain is Lori...also a wuffie grad, and 8 year old Cody...a member of the Wolfpack club since he was 2 and has his name on the marbel columns in the Murphy Football complex.

Fishing: King, Spanish, Mahi, Drum, Flounder, etc... Carp with the bow & arrow.

Boats: 1992 186 Bayhawk, and now a 2008 Sea Pro 228 CC. The Bayhawk will be for sale in a few weeks.

Now that I have a boat that can get me out where I want to go, my quest is to finally catch a Wahoo. Suggestions would be greatly appreciated. I make all my king rigs, but I have never rigged a bally hoo. I did buy some Williamson artificial bally hoo...but would like to know how to rig the frozen ones.

2003 sea pro 1700cc bay boat

try to do it all...bass, shad, specks, puppy drum, flounder, spanish mackeral, bluefish, wahoo, dolphin, tuna, false albacore, still tryin to catch a billfish... also flyfishing in nc/tenn mountains (my favorite kind of fishing), out west (montana, idaho, yellowstone), pa., and maine for trout.

my saltwater fishing is mainly out of harkers island now, but did have a carolina classic 25 i kept in morehead for a few years, so went offshore from there some. plan on resuming my chase for a billfish when the weather allows...

I'll fish for anything, but I mostly love to fish for Dolphin & Wahoo...Grouper runs a close 2nd

I like to fish ot of Morehead City...It's a nice big inlet, & an easy run south to wrecks, east to the big rock or the gulf stream.

Hello everyone, this looks like a informative forum. I have enjoyed reading all the posts. Been lurking a while and decided to jump in here.

Name: John Taylor

Location: Oak Island / Gastonia NC / Albemarle NC

Occupation: Work in our families business

Hobbies: Fishing, Golfing, Camping, Music

Boat: 13ft Boston Whaler w/25 HP Tiller Steer. "Elizabeth Reed"
Boat: 18 Ft Seahunt CC w/115 Yamaha 4 Stroke

I have been around boats and water all my life. My father being from Boston, gave me a lot of time out on Cape Cod in my younger days. We have had a home on Oak Island on the ICW since the mid 70's. We have had boats up on the freshwater lakes here in Gaston County and Stanly County for many years. After years of fishing off our dock, piers, creeks, surf, and inlets, I finally decided to get a small boat to fish some of the backwaters and inlets. Hopefully one day a bigger boat will satisfy our hunger for deeper waters. But for now, we are really looking forward to hitting the creeks, inlets and ICW. I figure its best and safer to fish these type waters before getting a bigger boat and heading out to deeper depths. Kind of the crawl before we walk advice and gain some experience in these waters. My girlfriend and I love to fish for anything. Doormats especially. But anything that hit our hooks suits us......We are just glad to be there and thankful we are able to get out there and fish.

Name: Marvin Murphy

Hobbies: Boating, woodworking, fishing

Location: Jacksonville Florida/Wilmington NC

Occupation: Retired IBEW LU 177 Electrician

Boats: 16' 2003 Carolina Skiff 50 HP Mercury
22' 2007 C-Dory Cruiser 90 HP Suzuki

I was raised in Wilmington and moved to Jax in 1960. All my family worked for the old ACL Railroad so when they left Wilmington we left. We lived in Sunset Park and had a place in what is now called Mallard Bay at the time we lived there it was called Topsail Acres. My dads last boat was a 18" Simmons man what a boat that was. I now live on the ICW in NE Jax at a place called Nassau Sound. I love Wilmington, Topsail and Carolina Beach area and often think about moving back but at 61 yrs old and handicapped I'll just visit from time to time. Still have the old house in Sunset Park which I rent out. Thanks for letting this old Tarheel enjoy your stories about the waters I grew up in. Any body here old enough to remember the ARK in downtown Wilmington? It was a Seafood Restaurant Boat on the waterfront many years ago. Or maybe Uncle Henry's Oyster House?
