Visiting Atlantic Beach this week---Need Help - The Hull Truth

Hello everyone,

I usually post in the Gulf Coast section but a friend on mine has invited me to fish with him in Atlantic Beach. He is fishing a 20ft Sea Pro. The weather is looking windy with seas running anywhere from 2-6 feet offshore so I'm thinking inshore fishing. He has just moved to Atlantic Beach so he has no local knowledge.

If anyone could give a few inshore spots and suggested tackle and tactics I would be forever in your debt and would retun the favor if you ever come to Mobile or Panama City.

When are you going to be there? Tuesday, Wed, and Thursday look like mostly swell out to 20 miles. Wind coming out of the North should keep the waves knocked down on the beach. If you want to catch kings you should be able to catch all you want at Northwest Places, Big 10, maybe even some of the inshore Artificial Reefs. I would pull cigar minnows on jigheads on livebait rods. The bottom fishing off of Atlantic Beach should be heating up the fish should be moving in closer. I would call Joe Shute's tackle shop in Atlantic Beach and see if he can give you the scoop on what you want to do. You might also visit the ncwaterman.com website for more local info. Coming down on Tuesday, Fishing Wednesday and Thursday. Good information. We'll make sure we stop at Joe's.

If you decide to fish inshore, we caught a cooler of Drum and Flounder last Saturday in the wind and rain. They are around the marshes the best place is a deep hole close to the marsh. We fished around Beaufort. We were using white gulp shrimp and cut bait.
