Stopped at the HW store on the way in to work this morning and procured (6) medium suction cups (they came in packs of three, needed four ), the necessary wire/connectors (just bought a trailer harness kit, a little pricey but had the wire and connectors), and some SS sheet metal screws to attach the lights to the suction cups (the cups had picture hanging hooks on them). Also some Velcro straps which, in retrospect, probably won't work the way I had in mind.

I have one of the lights stuck to my desk to see how long the suction cups will hold........

Sea Sucker makes a real high quality but pricey suction cup mount. www.seasucker.com

I was considering just using a length of 2x4 and placing it beam wise mid ship with the lights attached to the end of the 2x4. It could easily be made to place in rod holders or just bungee or wire tie into place. Easy on and off with quick connects for the wiring.

Unfortunately I can't do that since my wide spot is about dead center of the pilothouse.

Looked at the Sea Suckers - $48 for one - OUCH! Looked like a quality product, though.

Here's a crappy cellphone camera pic of my first product:

I made 2 small aluminum brackets that hang onto my mid-ship cleats. I attached my led lites to the brackets and hooked them to a 9V battery. Light works fine and 24 hours later I turned them off, Battery was still going strong. I mounted the batteries to the brackets with some battery clips I got from Radio Shack.

I'll try and post a picture.

Well, got it finished tonight (sorry no pics yet). So far it looks like the suction cups will work OK and I have Velcro straps securing the wire from each light to the rail stanchion (in case the s-cups let go the lights won't fall). The P2PC rated LED lights were, with freight, about $5/each more than Wally World LED lights but they definitely light up the night.

Mark, it looks like O2 will join Tina Marie in the rolling Christmas tree category......

Well, the light itself with s-cups looks exactly like the photo above, just stuck on the boat (instead of the white board in my office). I'll try to get some pics out here tonight.

Hey everyone here are a few pics of the lights. Nothing fancy but they dont need to be. Picked up the LED lights at Tractor Supply. 1"PVC and fittings for the front lights you can get anywhere.

For the rear lights I just made a bracket out of some scrap 1"aluminum flat stock and ran the wires down trough the upright pipe to the wiring harness. LED lights were $8.95ea replacement lamps $2.50

I have three rod holders towards the front of my boat one at the widest point, I just took some 1"PVC and PVC fittings then made two inserts and mounted the lights on them.
Then made a "Y" harness with a two pole plug to plug into the wiring harness at the front of the boat. You can notch the PVC pipe on the bottom to fit into the rod holder pin so the lights wont spin.

A Few pics from last night when I went to pick up the boat.

Looks great Mark. That PVC in the rod holder is a great, simple idea. All you need is a lighted angel or star on the t-top!

I'm glad I'm not the only one who is confused about the lights on the boat. I'm sure some marine manufacturer will come out with one and charge an arm and a leg for it.

Here is a pic of some lights that are required to be on the boat AND the trailer, this Mark's boat.
