Default Fight-N-Lady / Second To None Report 8-19

Finally a good offshore report to give! Fishing has been much better with the recent North winds we have had the past few days. Friday we fished about 30 miles out of the inlet first rod out was the Planer Rod Ryan was just about to fasten the last clip on it & WHAM a big Wahoo nails it & the line starts peeling off & I see my Ole Salty go flying through the air & then the rod just went slack after he made about 10 cranks on the handle. I thought to myself this is going to be another one of those days. He put the rest of the spread out & after about 10 minutes 4 lines came down at once I thought to myself I have not seen this in a while must be False Albacore & then the Mahis were doing there dance behind the boat so we started circling & ended up with around 30 of them before it was all over. Started working my way back inshore I see a Sailfish on the left short rigger he popped it out of the pen & that was it then he hammered the long but we did not manage to hold on to him. Saturday we headed to the Blue Water looking for the illusive Wahoo & Marlin. The Wahoo fishing was not working out to well so to the deep I headed in search of the big bite. I stayed about an hour & moved back inshore a little & started marking loads of bait I knew if a Hoo was around this is were he should be. I thought it may be a later bite because of the full moon & sure enough after sticking it out circling the bait marks around 11:00 the ole faithful Planer comes tight with a big fat Wahoo on the other end of it. We managed a steady bite until we decided to call it a day catching several very nice Wahoos. I guess the best part of it all was most of the bites came on the top baits because there is nothing like seeing a hoo come blistering a flat line or a short rigger! We have also been lucky enough to fish several inshore trips the last several days which yielded all the Spanish anyone could want along with several Kings mixed in. I have enjoyed the 1/2 days the most this year because my son Hunter has been riding along helping Ryan sling Macks he has seen more this summer than most grown men will see in a lifetime & he has had the most fun while doing it & even had a few nice tips.

I am glad to hear somebody is catching. The water here is SC is still real warm and with the daily afternoon chance of electrical storms, the days to head out have been limited. Hopefully the water will cool down soon. And the bite will pick up. I have been hunting SC/NC border fishing reports and there are not many postings. ~JJ~
