You will see the menu has the same sauces on many dif dishes.—the previous owner does in home Italian (with local flair) catering and cooking for family’s that is amazing. PM if your group is interested in his number.

Grill Room OBX------Worked here for last two years.- Very good steak (most of its prime), wine spectator award for wine list. Local and other fresh seafood, menu changes daily. Can accommodate large groups, good kids menu as well. Live music tues and thurs and outside deck bar m-f. Downsides, is it can be very busy and loud, crowded. Price is expensive, but on par with all resort pricing. Crab cakes are great, but have gone down hill compared to last years, are now second in the area to North Banks

Tomato Patch
Italian Foods & Bar
(252) 453-4500---Good place for quick family orientated pizza dining.

If your in Duck the best place is The Blue Point, which is phenomenal. Def need a reservation and ask about kids.
Remember in the Corolla/Duck area wed thurs and fri are the busiest days to go out to eat! try to get reservations any night you want to go out, and its almost mandatory if you want to eat on thurs! So try to plan your Thursday dining around a place that accepts reservations. Also drinking and driving is watched like the secret service in this area so be smart!

Also the bigest tourist trap in Duck is called sunset bar and grill, it looks like the islands with water views and palm trees, but the food and atmosphere is pure tourist trap. Dont get suckered in, but its fine to go to have drinks there on the water (has a funny smell to the place though ahah)

Please let me know if you have any specific questions about types of foods or things you want to see.

Hunt,
Thanks for the help.
We have a beachfront place so how is the surf fishing?

Are their any local amusement parks or arcades for the kids?

If there any flats/inshore fishing around? Can you recommend a guide?

I heard there are horses on the beach. Where are they?

Any good seafood fish markets?

Thanks again.

If you want to try true NC style BBQ, the best place is a little shack in historic corolla, by the old light house, turn before you get to twiddy realty. Be sure to try his cole slaw too!! its fantastic.

Yes there are horses on the beach but it's in the 4x4 area, so if you don't have it then don't mess around up there. You can rent jeeps to get up there or they have some tours available as well. Some days the horses can be harder to find than others.

The Blue Point is fantastic, and I highly recommend this place as well.

Not sure about the surf fishing up there but I'm sure you've got a shot at some taylor blues and spanish if you're in a decent spot.

If you want to charter a boat, then your looking at like 30-40 miles to come to Pirates cove, Oregon inlet fishing ceter, or broad creek. They have inshore, sound, inlet, nearshore, and offshore. There are a ton of great charters in this area. Let me know if you're interested and I'll throw you some names.

Also, the Timbuck II shopping center has putt putt, go carts, and I think an arcade as well.

The Blue Point is a good resturant.

My son is a fan of the Red Sky Cafe in Duck. Next to Kelloggs bldg supply.

Brace yourself for nightmarish traffic from Southern Shores north to Carolla. I never venture in that direction during tourist season.

Gray,

I grew up spending summers on Long Beach Island so we are familiar with traffic. It's will be time to relax. Most nights we are eating in. I made a reservation for the 12 of us at Blue Point Thursday so we're real excited.

Can't wait to just go somewhere new, forget about life at home, hang in the pool, drink some single malt, read a book, smoke a cuban and spend my mornings on the beach chasing breaking fish!!!!!

There is a restaurant on the right side of the road just after you cross the bridge coming from Mantio to OBX that has fantastic food. Does anyone know its name? It is a long building that has a screened area as well.

JK's is in nags head, hes in corolla, Mike Dianas Grill room used to be JK's in corolla, same live wood mesquite grill preperations, only maing thing about the menu changed is more seafood, and now no ribs.

Basnights Lone Cedar is def good down home cooking, the new building is very nice (the old one burned completely down), but the new building is loud bc of how open it is, and some of the historic ambience is lost.

That was a tough month for the basnights, first the Rest. burned to the ground, and two weeks later his wife passed.

Im a fan of TL's country kitchen myself when I'm down that way for lunchs.

You did well with making reservations at Blue Point, but it is pricey.

For the same quality I'd also recommend Meridian 42 in Southern Shores.

Also, for seafood in quality on the cheaper side, I'd have to say Black Pelican on the beach road about 6 miles south of Blue Point.

X2, I 'm another fan of TL's. Basic down home good cooking. The atmosphere is no atmosphere , which is fine with me

As for Basnight's Lone Cedar, I love the man but his restaurant...not so much. High priced, average food, very few view seats, and variable service. But unfortunately, that describes most restaurants in the Manteo, Nags Head area these days. It's a crap shoot. I really can't think of one I can recommend as a sure bet. They've all sort of gone price crazy and lost their way in the kitchens. I wish they would get back to good 'ole basic OBX fare at moderate prices, the way it was 15 years ago. But I'll admit lots of folks don't agree with me, Basnight's lot is always full.
