Default Fishing Reports for Chowan and Albermarle Sound

Has anybody heard any news about fishing in the Chowan River down to the Albermarle Sound? There where large catches of white perch in the Notaway River in April. Have these fish moved south yet?

I have not heard of any perch being caught in the Pasq or Little Rivers yet. Water temp is around 73 degrees.

The fishing in the area of the 32 bridge is just starting to improve. Water quality is good and one of my commercial buddies says that he has caught some bluefish in his gill nets.......which would be a good sign for the summer. I'm looking forward to the fall when all those rock that were 1/2" short this spring, grow up over the summer *grin*

Oh......not gonna get into that fight. People have been fishing up here will gill nets since the Lost Colony. While I agree that they are indiscriminate, by placing restrictions on stretch mesh and depth, it does tend to focus on the target species. There will just be too many good people out of work if they get outlawed. Personally, I'd rather stop the menhaden fishery.........that would have a positive effect on all the predator species.
