What is the timetable for a vote on the Bills relating to overwidth and Classified A license?

Typical would be discuss over the next few weeks and gain a consensus. The committee it's referred to usually takes several weeks. Vote would likely be end of June to sometime in July. But this one does seem to be moving along at a good pace. And that's due to the emails and calls to legislators all you guys have made.

If this passes would we still need weighted tags? If I read the bill correctly I could leagally tow my boat trailer (13800#) that is about 108" with guides-without any special license or flags.

I think you may have afforded yourself of a few moments of wishful thinking.....

One bill, if passed, would allow you to drive without a Class A license.

Another bill (actually, several), if passed, would allow you to travel without an overwidth license, flags, etc.

No bills (as far as I know) will allow you to use a "property carrying vehicle" (read that, weighted tag) to tow without having enough tonnage purchased to cover the entire GCVW.

Worse than that IF YOU TRAILER OUTSIDE NC....

Due to just the weight of the trailer, alone, you are subject to all of the requirements of the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Regulations (49 CFR Parts 390 - 397) . You just became a commercial 18-wheeler with a CDL, logbooks, etc....

(Note: if your GCVWR (note: rating) exceeds 26,000# the above sentence applies EVEN IN NC.)

Sorry, but not true. Weight alone does not make a vehicle a "CMV", you must be involved in "commerce"
