I just bought a mini-mamba bar from Canyon Runner in blue and silver. Its a smaller bar that can be run off smaller outriggers. I have no experience with it, but will hopefully have a report before the end of the month!
30's if you are just pulling the spreader.....you need 50's definitely if you are going to run a trail bait with the spreader bar and that is the best way to run spreaders on a small boat IMO.
I like pink squid early season and blue/white squid once the flying fish show up.
Ditto.
I continually run a green machine and bird combo Loooooong and have never gotten a strike on it. Not sure how it works in a spreader situation but the above produces consistant strikes.
I have not had a lot of luck with green machines either. I havn't given them a lot of chance though because other stuff is working. I like a naked horse ballyhoo way back sometimes with a small bird in front of it.
Biggest yellowfin ive caught was on a green machine and a bird way back, 60lbs. Ive caught a few dolphin on it and one blackfin tuna. Never had any luck with the spreader bars but have done pretty good with daisy chains.
I'm going to try a Stripteaser dredge this year...I saw it on George Poveromo's world of Saltwater fishing....I didn't know what it was at the time, so I emailed George & asked....He says that they are very effective. http://www.stripteaser.biz/
2. what bars do you run just outside the wash if anyway - couldn't you use a handline if you do run one outside the wash
3. Do you run a spreader even with the short line then a bait within striking distance?
