Re: Boat Ramp Closed - Southport Marina From the looks of it, they are wanting to focus on the marina being the primary source to drive revenue. They are the only game that seems to have room for expansion down the road of any size and they know it.
It has definitely affected the opinion of the locals that have had "the run" of the marina for 30 years and now it won't be considered a "hang out" like it was in the past.
I dropped the boat in Monday at just below mid tide going out and my trailer went off the present ramp on the right one. Both axles dropped off. I would have been screwed if I were trying to pull out instead of splashing.
As it stands now, right ramp ends in between the 3rd and 4th cleat from the end at the dock on the right.
No worries, we still have wildlife ramp, never a problem parking there. :D
If I didn't need a boat set up for diving, I would join the Freedom Boat Club.
5 boats to choose from that are in their own wet slip from 19' to 26' to use as much as you want for $350 a month. That and the fact that your choice is a cuddy, cc, skiff, pontoon or deck boat.
And no, I don't have an affiliation with them, but where else can you have a choice of 5 new boats w/ wet slip, no maint, cleaning, towing, insurance, etc for that kind of money. It is a no brainer.
Oh well, not willing to give up the spear diving. |
