Default live bottom areas near Lockwood Folly?

I might be heading out this coming weekend to look for some black sea bass if the seas lay down a bit. The only thing I have marked in the area is the public reefs (Yaupon etc.). Not looking for anyone's secret spots, but are there some live bottom areas that might hold some fish, inside 10 miles (preferably 5 miles)? I mainly fish for flounder and do some nearshore spanish trolling but I'd like to do some bottom fishing this weekend.

What's the best way to find those spots? Just keep an eye on the depth finder when riding? Or buy beer for some local fisherman? :D

Maps Unique may have what you are looking for. Their Murrell's Inlet map has live bottom survey information from Baldhead to Folly Beach. mapsunique.com

The Maps Unique does have some areas marked that should hold bottom fish. There are several descent patches between the inlet and the Club Reef. A good dept sounder should let you see the fish near the bottom. I generally drift over likely spots and note them on the GPS when I find a lot of fish. Some of the patches are rather small.

Jim,

Most of the better areas for decent sized sea bass are out a ways further than you want to go. You're going to find a lot of undersized fish within 10 miles. I have one great area about 16 miles out but I cannot tell you about that one (hold grouper too). If you can make the trip the 15 mile, 18 mile and 22 mile rocks are decent. On the Pro Charts you'll also see a place called 'Big Bass Hole' that's decent too. By the way, Bass love Big Gulp chunks. No need to rebait much with these and from what I've experienced they like em better than squid.
