BB,
Depends on where in NC? Outer Banks, down South, Morehead area? I fish out of Morehead and the dolphin fishing gets good in May, June is good too and July-Sept there are plenty of fish but the size goes way down, you can catch them closer to the beach then too.

You probably won't find a charter for 8, 6 is the max on charters, you may need 2 boats.

Pretty much what MattH said. Contact Tony Ross Wet-N-Wild out of Morehead. Maybe you can get him and Mike Webb to charter 2 boats for 8 people.

"Country Girl" out of Pirates Cove in Manteo and "Doghouse" out of Broad Creek Marina in Wanchese can take up to 12 to the gulf stream.

Last year we caught big dolphin out of Harkers right around Memorial Day. If I recall, the fishing had been excellent for a couple of weeks by then. I've fished on Doghouse and had a good day chasing Tuna. My guess is the dolphin bite is a bit later up there - probably June/July. Shack can definitely take 8 people. Beautiful boat - a custom 61 I think.

May and June are very productive in the Morehead City area. I would suggest that you get 2 boats and have a mini tournament. You will get more chances on the fish and the boat will not be as crowded. Good Luck!!
