Gaff, Nothing at Belky? I heard it's been slow this year at Belky and Myrtle beach rock too. I had only planned to stay around the inlet and catch some bait and troll just at the tide line. But I didn't find bait there, so we headed to 90/90 around 1:30 PM and found about five boats fishing. We put down Sabiki's and caught some live bait. As soon as we put them out we had a good one hit, but he got half the bait. After that we lost a few fish to short strikes. Around 4:30 we started to think about heading in early and Bam. Good long run, followed by a cut off. So I decided they are biting now so lets give it another half hour. At around 5 or so the center rod went and didn't stop. I knew it was a good size king. I still haven't weighed it but figure around 40/45 lbs. He's real long and real fat. I will weigh him as soon as I get a chance. Any way the kings are around and I heard on the radio a 45lber was taken @ 90/90 that afternoon by Fishin mission. Well good luck and maybe I will see you on the water. ~JJ~

Depending on what type of GPS you have one of your data fields on your display may be accuracy. Normally it does not seem that important but I keep that on my display, every now and again it will jump up to 50 ft or worse. At that point usually if you shut it down and restart it it will come back down below 10 ft. This info can really save you when you are in skinny water areas.

Buzode, I think your'e right about shutting it off and turning it back on. I did notice after restarting it was more accurate. I have a NorthStar 960 and I never took the time to read the instructions, so I only have limited knowledge of all of its functions. Now that the weather is cooling down I will take the time to study the manual.

And Hopkins, I think the kings will be moving back out to the 60-70 depths soon Jungle, Christina Atlantic ledge etc..
And hang there until the water cools some more, then according to marine studies we have two separate groups of Kings. One group winters in the stream off our coast , while the other group heads south to Florida. At least that's what I have read.~JJ~

JJ, check and see that your GPS is set on the correct chart datums is you are getting a false location.

I will as soon as read this manual. Which was a blatant laziness on my part. I read up to "congradulations on purchasing a NorthStar 960" and winged it from there. I cant even remember where it's at on the boat. Just kidding, it's somewhere under a pile of other manuels in the overhead compartment. I really do need to knuckle down and read it while the weather is too cold for my skinny Azz.. Maybe this weekend I will learn my machine, because Tuesday looks warm enough to fish in relative comfort. I still havent read the manuel for my fish finder either and I know it has a lot of features I am not taking advantage of. I winged that too. I regularly find new features while messing with my electronics. I am admittedly lazy when it comes to dry reading material. Yet I am an avid reader. When my wife buys something that needs to be assembled I toss the instructions and wing it, Sometimes to my dismay when I leave a bolt out of secqence and have to start all over. Just a quirk of mine that needs readjustment. I think it's something in the genes. My brother is the opposite, everything by the book. He is so organized that I feel like a slob around him. I obviously talk to much too. His response to your advice would have been" Thank you". I can't shut up sometimes. ~JJ~

TRACKS and tracking back is all I can tell you Jetty.

I came back through Lockwoods just by zooming in and following back my visable track when outgoing.

It's tough coming in pitch dark when you don' have anything but the outdated GPS charts of an inlet to see on your screen!

There might be a way to save your tracks on your GPS. If your track memory is full you may have to set your GPS to overwrite or maybe clear the memory before you set out. Also, a display provision to show your previuously tracked path on the screen?

Twice that saved and displayed track has probably saved my butt. Once, that night comming back through Lockwoods that night and second, comming back into Charlotte Harbor in FL during a bad sea fog.

Sorry you hit the bar.

Let's leave for the 100/400 very early Tuesday out of OIB! I need a partner boat!

I might consider running to !00/400, I need to check my boat out after grounding. I am pretty confident that nothing is wrong. I shut down and lifted the motor the moment I grounded. And it pissed fine all the way back to my slip. Never over heated or clogged and the prop looked fine. My live well was full of sand. The skeg had a little paint off it but other than that I didnt notice any problems.~JJ~
