Anything from Rube or Basnight? Or both??
This topic has been beat to death.
I personally smell the stink of insurance companies all over this topic.
I think if I paid my insurance company another $50.00 a year and declared that I towed the boat and trailer they cover already, I bet this would get resolved and relieve me of all this stupid red tape and confusing bull $H#$!

Figured you guys were all over this??????
I'm 100 percent legal on my weighted tags which cost me anually very dearly at 19,000 pounds combined weight. AND, I have a class B liscense which takes me to 26,000 for me to operate.
BUT!!! oops, when I go down any road for any distance pulling my "wide load" boat trailer that's about 9 feet wide, I'm not legal in NC without another permit and more cost?
God forbid that I'm pulling that wide boat trailer (irrigardless of weight) across certain roads or during certain time of day or night!
I'd really like to be legal on the width thing as well, but the wide load thing and laws has me completly confused for boats here in NC.
I honestly believe the NC authorities could legally ticket me for being too wide if I pulled my trailer from my ramp to my house (a distance of about two miles.)
What does the State of NC want me to do? Do I need to apply for an annual wide load permit that covers only the two roads from the ramp to my house? Do I need to place banners and/or lights on my boat trailer announcing that I'm pulling a load over 8'-6"?
Been doing this overwide trailer boat thing for more years across many states and more miles than most on this forum can even count.
Some of the States were TN, NC, VA. FL, GA, SC, AL and further.
Somebody please tell me how I can be legal if pulling a boat trailer that is definately wider than 8'-6" in my home state of NC!
