Default OBX Waterfront rental home

Were getting an early start in trying to locate a water/canal front home in the Pirates Cove - Manteo area. We really enjoyed the home on Penisula Dr. but I just found out the home has been sold and would no longer be a rental. If any of you who are realtors have any leads shoot me a PM. Looking to rent for 2-3 weeks.

Nice House
I guess I posted too late. We plan to go for 2 weeks in August. Looks like your booked for one of the weeks we want already.

Greg,
Do you know anything about Spinnaker Village #27?

Funny thing is I just signed the rental agreement for next year so they must have been sitting on those reservations. That week in August that its rented is a tournament week so its at a premium. I would imagine its the same for most properties.

Spinaker Village 27 has been for sale for over 2 years, they started at $899k and are down to about $739k. It has a small pool but it also has an upside down floor plan with the bedrooms on the lower level. I didn't find that appealing particularly since I plan to eventually retire to my place but for a week I guess it wouldn't be bad. The location is right across the canal from my house, you might even be able to see it in the pictures of my place.

Maybe you could go a week earlier or later?

Thanks for the info. Looks like everything is booked the week of the 11th. The older my son gets the more difficult it is planning vacation. Between camp, AP and music classes I find myself making plans 12-18 months ahead of time. At 45 my brain don't want to work like that anymore

the house that you are talking about that was sold that wouldnt be the yellow house second on the left. If so that is the same house we had been renting the last few years. We might have to start looking for a new place also. I was afraid that it would sell one daynot be in the rental program.
Thanks Jeff

Thats the house. It was a perfect setup for us and the rental price was really good. The owner turned out to be a real dick. We had rented the place for 2 weeks in a row in August. I asked the rental agent if the dock had water and a hose, she said yes. We get there and no hose, no big deal I ran down to the hardware store and bought one. After 5 days the water was turned off. I called the rental company and asked them what was up. They said the owner does not like renter wasting water. I flipped, I said I use the hose for 5-10 minutes a day at the dock to wash down the boat. You have a dock, you need a hose and water. After 3 days a service guy came over unlocked the pool house and turned the water on. He said he was very sorry and that the owner was a real a hole.
The green house across the street is up for sale to, 1.3 mill I think. The are the only two rental homes on that street

I think theirs a better chance of the glaciers melting and the Outer Banks being under 10 feet of water than you living in a van

FASTFJR,

Not sure if you've found something yet - thought I'd suggest one.

My wife and I rented "Sailfish Point #4" back in 2001 for a week - right on the next canal over from the maina at Pirate's Cove and it came with (i.e. free) 25ft. of dock space DIRECTLY behind the house - AND, a free hose and water at the dock!

GREAT place - slept 12 and had EVERYTHING you'd want in a rental - even bikes to ride that the owner left for folks to use!

I had my Scout down there (17ft. 5in.) and it worked out PERFECT for docking - like your Whaler would.

Not sure if it's been sold or still in the rental program - you may wanna' check. Also, not sure how far ahead they'll let you reserve? Some places won't let you make reservations any earlier than Jan. 1 of the rental year?

Regards,

As an owner I can answer that. PC can rent 12 months in advance provided the owner has signed the 2008 rental agreement. While I'd love to be able to help a forum brother out with a deal on my place, the one week Fast is looking for is tournament week which books quickly. Any other week and we can work a deal, water included along with a view of your boat over the rail of the deck.

That said, if I can't do anything, call the Pirates Cove rental office at 252.473.6800, ask for Debbie Green and tell her the week you are looking for and what amenities you need. My place rents for a little more because of the hot tub, maybe you don't want that, she can find one for less. The biggest issue is length of dock space, my house has 35', some places (rare) have none, Sailfish Point is generally 25' as are the Bucanner Village condos.

I try to do a few upgrades with each trip up, last summer it was a 32" flat panel in the master bedroom and a Ducane grill and furniture on the deck. Next summer I'm leaning towards a 42" flat panel in the family room and maybe some new furniture.

Good luck finding a place, I rented from 2000-2005 except for '03 when we moved from VA to FL, and bought in '06.

Greg

Try Hammock Village # 52. Fifty five foot dock space out back, large fish cleaning station and water hose on the dock. Four bedrooms, four bath rooms sleeps 13. We fish and the house is set up for fishermen. House is listed with Pirates Cove. Any questions give me a call. 1-252-883-9999.

Looks like we might be renting Rudder Village #9 or Spinnaker Village #27. Anyone know the approx distance between the boardwalk and water? Can you launch and retrieve a kayak?

Thanks

Probably need to speak with an agent down that way. PC is the biggest concentration of vacation properties so there are a number of owners here, and generally under centralized rental management. Smaller communities with more of a year round component would likely be leased by any of the major players down there. Best bet would be to call around.

Good luck.
