Elizabeth City to the Sound in a kayak? You won't have time to fish!

Do you know what type of fish will be in the Elizabeth City area? I grew up fishing is the Core Sound when i lived in the Davis, NC area. I really do not know what to expect in the brakish waters.

This past Saturday i didnt want to risk not bring home the fish, so i went to the North end of Manto and caught two 14" Seatrout. Baked up real nice. Does Seatrout and Drum make it as far North as EC?

You can look to catch White Perch, Striped Bass (Rockfish) and some panfish if you are looking to eat. You will not find many saltwater fish up this way. You may catch a flounder (small) or a croaker here or there. Put your 'yak over at the Halls Creek boat ramp, take some worms or shrimp and you will tear the white perch up right now. I personally wouldnt eat anything you catch in the Pasquotank close to downtown EC. Newbegun Creek, Little River are good places to 'yak. You will be a paddling fool to get out to the sound though!

Thanks for the help. I have been looking for some information for a while. I just went out today off Popular Branch boat ramp in the Currituck Sound and it was loaded with perch and rockfish. Could not land any perch but now i know what i was doing wrong.

I'll stay clear of the fish near EC. Thanks again.
