Default Appalachian State VS.Michigan

I know that there are tons of State and UNC fans here but I have to put a plug in for Appalachian State. Most dont know that App has a great football program. Kudos to Appalachian State upsetting the Michigan Wolverines. Talked to a friend that was at the game and he said it was a fantastic game. The shame is for beating Michigan they will probrably not get another early season big house game. The big boys do not like to be beat like that by a so called unknown. It does not do their winning stats any good. Congrats to Appalachian!!.......Mark

And, Michigan paid them $400,000 to do it!

Here's some other comments.

Remember Elon in the late 70's they were the small school power house. Funny all ESPN could talk about was the mistakes that Mich made and not the great playing of App!

Great comments guys, I'm an Appalachian Alumni and coudn't be prouder of those kids....

Some other little know ASU facts...Mack Brown coached football there and Bobby Cremmons coached Basketball there....so, if history is any indicator Gerry Moore has an offer he can't refuse coming his way...

App State played a great game. It looked like to me Michigan didnt even look at the film before the game on Edwards. They were totally unprepared for his speed and ability to get the football in some tight spots. GO APPS!!!

On top of getting beat MI paid AppState $400K to play. I just heard from a friend at ASU that Ohio State (probably students) have ordered a large quantity of the new 34-32 T-shirts. Dam that's cold. But funny!

They are probably the best team in NC the past 2 years....definitely this year. I think there is a reason WF doesn't schedule them any more.....got beat too often.

Its a shame App only received $400,000. Michigan made in the millions from the TV rights. Should have been the other way around....Greg you are right on that one. That is why I said it will hard for App to get another big league game.....mark

I heard on the radio today that in the next few years the Mountaineers have VT, LSU, and FL on the schedule. The ASU athletics director said he had gotten emails from all the AD's from those schools and all sent congrats and all said that their games were still on There will always be some big time schools that will schedule them but they ain't sneaking up on anybody anymore. State was really lucky to beat them last year. The Big Blue obviously didn't watch that tape. ASU can play one of these high profile games per year and go a long way to boosting their athletic budget. Congrats to the App fans they deserve to enjoy this one!!!

My parents both are Appalachian grads(from the early 60's) and they both were very happy with the big win. My dad is a footbal team alum and football coaching alum at ASU so he was especially happy. I was raised to be an App fan and was thrilled to see them win over a top 5 team (I am an NCSU alum but I will not go there). That win was the first win by a AA team against a top ten ranked A Team so it was quitre an accomplishment. The Applachian coaches outcoached Michigan hands down from the replay of the game and the players made play after play regardless of Michigans mistakes. Loyd Carr had his guys ready for an automatic win. Jerry Moore is a legend in Boone now if he wasn't already after two national titles in a row. If you have not seen them play and you are football fan take the time to watch one of there games even if it is during one of there few televised games and I am sure will be entertained.
