Default 1077# Blue Marlin caught off Oregon Inlet

Thursday, fishing off Oregon Inlet, the boat Swordfish caught and landed a 1077 lb. blue marlin! Fought for 3 hours before landing. Have not heard all the details yet, but an impressive fish! 5th grander caught off Oregon Inlet over the years!

Mark

Me and a buddy were actually planning on fishing Thursday for billfish, but neither of us could arrange our schedules for it. Right after the full moon in August and a light NE wind is prime time for big blues. This big blue was definately the catch of a lifetime. I was in meetings all day today so I still have not heard the whole story.

Had another friend who keeps a private boat at Pirates Cove who fished an area yesterday that hasn't been fished in a while, they raised 35 whites and released 8!!

Billfishing is hot right now!

It is quite a tale. And quite a fish to boot. The local radio was all about it this morning, they interrupted the local morning show shenanigans to have Capt Marty Brill on and describe what the fish was like.

Congrats to Capt Ringer (real nice people). My wife has taught their son and we wish them all a tremendous WELL DONE, Capt

Mates name on the SWORDFISH is Austin. I fished that Wednesday and didn't get a bite. (along with a bunch of other boats) Then Thursday, an outboard pulls up with 8 release flags, and rumors of seeing an additonal 20+ fish??? ON top of the eight whites, a grander is weighed. WOrd quickly spreads about the 8 releases and the boat/owner is quickly located and "picked" for information. Turns out the info he gave people was way WRONG. We showed up on Friday in the same area as his "info", and no outboard boat was there. Come to find out he was North of his "info" and had been there the previous day as well. Burned plenty of fuel for nada.....

Once we got to the area, we went 3 for 3 on whites, and witnessed boat after boat hoooking up with singles, doubles, triples and even saw one boat covered up with 5 on at one time. Top boat left the area with 13 whites which is a great day. Most boats had between 3 and 13 to end the day. Bite occured late in the day @ 2:00 and later.

I know good information is hard to come by, especially if you have a "secret" spot, but to blatanly lie, is not cool.

I hope he remembers who cuts the waves down for him on the ride out and may even help save a SEATOW bill sometime.

It is a big ocean and we just all need to get along and enjoy the sport of fishing.
