She aided in the apprehension of drunk folks on rented pontoons boats today. They were actually playing chicken, can you believe it???!!! I think the Rangers were impressed how well she knows the lake.
Basically all I did was stand by and watch them at Ebenezer picnic area where the people were obviously drinking. The other workers I was accompanied by, saw it too because every now and then there would be a hoot n hollar and they were doing the "redneck drinking" pose...Which would be standing in a relaxed position, beverage (and of course in a coozie) in your hand at all times with your elbow bent at about a 90 degree to 110 degree angle. They knew we were there watching them but insisted on getting in some rented pontoon boats from Crosswinds and decided to start playing chicken with them, and bumper boats (but not actually hitting each other). After that they made figure 8 moves all the way out to the main lake and up to the s curves. Good thing it was a slack day, or they could have hurt someone or their selves. Them drinking under the picnic area was ok I suppose, but acting a fool on a boat after the drowning(s) that have happened, is ignorant .
Finally my newly acquainted friends and I decided it was about time to call it in. So we did, told the park ranger what was going on, and he took care of it.
My sources (Chip) says those jobs are hard to come by.
Congrats!!
Actually it wasn't that difficult, just can't have a criminal record and my knowing the lake very well was an added bonus, plus having good manners at the interviewed helped a lot.
GO GET UM, OFFICER FIRECRACKER! CUFF 'EM AND STUFF 'EM!
All joking aside, good work.
Too many folks don't realize or don't care (or both) how serious BUI really is.....and how much fatigue from sun/wind/motion/noise causes the impairment to be worse.
